Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Edited:

This guy is selling Evo with Ui2 and everything else except wheels for $1900 free shipping.

if you click on the link below you will see there are a couple paint issues. One down the rear fork and a small chip on the down tube. He claims that the bike was sold to him as is from his LBS and got a deep discount because of it. He also says he is willing to give a 30 day full money back if the chips are worse off than he claims.

Whatcha think? Those scratches on the rear fork look like they are trying to be covered up with permanent marker or something.

Its more than just weight difference. The evo is smoother, stiffer and would have di2

But I'm guessing with my parts I have to transfer it would be around 13.5lbs

That looks like a bit of a mish-mash. The frame/cranks/stem/bars look unused. The FD however has clearly seen a few miles. It's also the 6770(?) Ui2 not the 6870 11speed version.

i'm not sure what you're looking to get out of this though - from your other posts, I'll bet that those frame scrapes will bug the hell out of you over time. Also last year's Ui2 is nice, but it's not Di2 and the current 9000/6800 rework of DA and ultegra are widely viewed as a big improvement. I'd hold off and get the dream bike another day.

Since you ask, here's what I think. After reading the other thread, I wonder how long after you acquire this new steed that the itch for something new starts. Your money, so spend it as you see fit.

Yeah you are right. I guess I wasn't seriously looking, but it got me thinking about what if. Thanks for input!

A few thoughts.

Make sure the bike isn't stolen. If it is then it can be seized and you have nothing if you're lucky, you get arrested if you're not.
Have you priced what it would cost to replace a rear Di2 derailleur? How about a front one? I only found out this year but you'll exceed your $400 "total cost" to replace one or the other.
Can you float $1900 without paying interest? Meaning until you sell off the other stuff.
If you can get just half of what you expect ($750 vs $1500) then how would that affect you? Consider that the market will dry up for road stuff right about now so you may not get the money you think your stuff is worth. Figure for a new crank 50% of street price on the internet, so if the cranks sell for $300 new then figure you might get $150. $100 would sell quickly. Time is money - if you wait for a higher price you may not sell it very quickly. How much will you compromise on price?

I understand your excitement. I've seen stuff like this and have gone both ways - I've bought stuff and I've passed it up. I don't know what happened with the passed up ones (i.e. if they were stolen, if they were damaged, etc). I do know that when I did jump on stuff I had a 100% good feeling on the bike (complete Cannondale Record bike with SRM) and wheels (Reynolds and HED wheels, used). I'm glad I jumped on the things I did. I bought stuff that fills out my inventory, not adds new needs. For example the Cannondale I bought had a Record 10s group and I already had 2 bikes with Record 10s. This meant that I had spare parts immediately, that if I crashed the thing I'd be okay.

On the other hand not jumping on something hasn't changed my life. I don't miss whatever front wheel I didn't buy, or yet another SRM crank, even some cars/trucks. I don't have 11s - for me to do that would be a huge move, due to all the 10s bikes/shifters/parts I have. I didn't get Di2 when I could get it at a super ultra discount (one time offer when it first came out). Etc.

A final note. Everything I jumped on I paid for in full. I didn't add to any debt, use a line of credit, etc. I just paid for it. It's a much less stressful way of buying stuff than basically borrowing money to buy stuff you can't afford.

It was more of a "hmmm I wonder I could make it happen" type thing. I was only half serious about thinking of it. In the end those scratches would but the crap out of me (as said above). I have talked with the seller and I don't trust him. That's a lot of money to put forward justbtobfind out he wasn't honest. No big deal, I am happy with my bike (for now) Lol. But I'm always on the lookout for a deal to upgrade and flip parts.

I would look for a nearly new EVO frame only. It won't be free even with the sale of your old one. Then put you old parts on it. Little by little upgrade your parts. Thvt's how I would do it. Much lower chance of disappointment than buying a whole used bike.

Yeah, I would have swapped over parts that would have fit and then sold the parts that didn't. What do you think about that scratch on the rear fork though? I'm not interested in it anymore, but Id still be curious to know what you guys think of that long scratch. Just cosmetic?

Gah, "seat stay" I mean. Either way, there's only one fork and it's up front.

That's not the normal crankset for that bike either...it looks like that bike was in a crash, another bike was purchased, and parts were moved back and forth.
