Silca with lezyne chuck?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Silca with lezyne chuck?

I have an old silca pista with a beat up hose and chuck. I was looking for a replacement hose and was thinking about replacing them with this:

https://www.amazon.com/Lezyne-Floor-P...pr_product_top

I'm Wondering if anyone has given this a try? If not would the end of the hose fit on my silca with a hose clamp

I did not care for the Lezyne chuck that threads on the valve stem. I kept removing the valve when I unscrewed it. User error of course, but to me an unnecessary complication. That may be a different chuck, however....

That is the Lezyne chuck that came on my Lezyne alloy pump. Yes it threads on and is a minor PITA. Would much prefer a quick connect one. The pump however is great

Why not just a new hose and gasket for the Silca head? Air hose rated for compressors is dirt cheap by the foot at most hardware stores, and gaskets for the Silca brass head are still being made:

Reason I was looking for replacement was because the chuck was some cheapo quick connect. I found the original silca chuck, which looks like this:

However, I'm a bit confused on how to use it for schrader valves. For the presta valve I just buy a presta washer like the one you link, but is there such a washer for schrader valves?

Lezyne makes an updated screw-on chuck that has the pressure release button - to prevent the valve from screwing off.

I still hate it, because it's annoying to thread that thing on at 5:45am!

Silca with hirame chuck. Best combo in my book. A bit pricey upfront but bombproof in the long run. Also the chuck is angled which happens to be perfect for my disc wheels if you're into such disciplines that use them as well and had to put up with the ****ty zipp crack pipe.

No; that pump head is for presta valves only.

Isn't the Hirame head presta-only as well?

It is BUT I forgot to include the rest of the pie. My bads.

Here's the part I forgot. I have my hirame inserted firmly into this:

It is 2 parts, when you screw off the traditional silca bell chuck (and in my case, the hirame chuck that's inserted into it as well, seeing angled chuck is just as good as straight) you get the schrader compatible brass receptacle remaining which is pipe clamped to the hose. The zipp crack pipe has can go into that receptacle too, not that I have any reason to use that for bikes anymore.

Next time you get a flat, replace it with a presta tube anyhow.

I have Silca chucks on all my pumps and been using them for years. When I buy a new pump, I cut off the old head and replace it with a Silca. Great chuck.

I've also had issues with a Lezyne chuck unscrewing the valves. It's a pain - the fix is to apply a bit of loctite to the threads, but it's just easier to use another pump as far as I'm concerned and I want to be able to get my valve cores out when I want to get them out. I ride on tubulars (actually tubeless tubulars) with sealant in them so I need removable valve cores.

The newer chuck on Lezyne floor pumps are now solid. The gold colored thread-on chucks have a little button that bleeds off pressure when pressed after inflating to the desired pressure. So, no more using loctite to hold removable valve core in place.

Good to hear. That was a pain. Needed to be redesigned.
