Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cannondale CAAD5 tyre/mudguard clearances

I've got a 2006 CAAD5 R700 which I was thinking of using through the winter. Does anybody know if it's possible to get 25mms and/or a pair of mudguards on there?

For reference the bike looks like this:

Thanks!

This is one of those questions that's hard to answer since tire manufacturers specs/size are not all the same.
Some are wider, higher, or smaller than they advertise.

There's quite a few tire threads in the 41 that will help you find the answer. Search tire clearance.

Raceblade LONGs will fit and give near the coverage of full fenders.

I'm trying to decide between the SKS Raceblade Longs and the Crud Roadracers. It looks like the SKS Raceblade longs might need less clearance since the mudguard doesn't go under the brake? However the Roadracer gives better seatube/feet/crank/front derailleur coverage.

Anyone have experience with both?
