Cycling in Greensboro, NC

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cycling in Greensboro, NC

I am visiting Greensboro early next month for a long weekend. I am deciding if I should bring my bike with me. Anyone know how is the cycling down there? Not looking for anything epic, may be just a couple of 50 milers in scenic routes.

I don't remember specific routes but I enjoyed it. I found lots of good places to ride and didn't get lost. I just looked at a map and plotted out routes. I ended up finding people and ride with them. It was a lot of fun.

There's tons of riding around Greensboro. There are several big shops in the area that should be able to point you to some decent routes.

And if you feel like driving about an hour, you can head up to the Blue Ridge Parkway for some good mountain riding. Pilot Mountian and Mt. Airy are two great areas to ride.
