Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

[QUOTE=Leinster;16170866]Im unimpressed with the shifting on the 2013 105 on my Cannondale, if that helps. I thought the 2005 version on my old Schwinn worked better. This may be due to me not having had time to dial the new one in to my preference, it hasn't really been adjusted since leaving the shop.[/QUOTE

I have 105 on my 2011 Cannondale and it has been flawless since the day I got it, as long as I keep it well maintained. like any other group.

Well I finally got the time to do some fine tuning on it on Friday, and it worked pretty well on the century I rode yesterday. And there's probably still some work to do on it. But at this stage I still say my old combination of 2005 Tiagra shifters and 105 derailleurs shifted better. And my wife's Tiagra also shifts better.

Maybe I'm just that much better at setting a group up than the tech in REI that did the final assembly on my CAAD10.

REI stores have some great things - bike techs don't tend to be one of them though

My 99 105 shifts better than the 5700 does ON THE FRONT. Too many trim positions I think. Rear is equal other than a longer lever throw and I miss being able to make three shifts (cogs) with one throw of the lever. Thinking about trying to see if a can run the cables outside the bar tape.
