Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I think that Voler wind / rain shell that was the focus of a thread a few weeks back looked promising. Most of my current stuff would not cross over well, being either too loose to ride well with (using hiking gear on the bike) or not being as breathable / rain impervious as I want (using bike stuff hiking). If you want a great hiking / snowshoeing hardshell, the EMS gore-tex rain jacket is phenomenal. I would rate it better than all the high end stuff I have ever played with.

Some of that old, heavy stuff sounds great on a budget, but are you sure that you're not talking about hipsters? They're always looking for a big, retro-ugly amp to go between their SL-1200Mk2 and Yamaha speakers.

Any hipster market for the reel-to-reels? I have a big 10.5" Teac that I would hate to see go to a non-loving home.

I also have a 7" Teac.

Not necessarily.

I had an HR/Recruiter tell me she was so swamped she forgot to call back and schedule an in person interview.

If you don't hear by tonight, I'd call Monday morning and ask if they'd like to schedule you

Seems like for us creative types it's a different "world" when it comes to interviews/recruiting/etc

it is a little different isn't it.

this is the first time i've left a job before having something else lined up. I've been doing a lot of networking, but haven't come up with much actual work yet.

Very ... had no idea how much it had changed til earlier this year, when I really looking and pushing hard. Was spending HOURS a day searching, applying, tweaking my resume and cover letter each time. It was maddening.

Prior to that I was in newspapers ... and that was a breeze compared to now.

Seems like it comes in fits and starts ... some days there's tons of jobs out there, others just a trickle. I was working with a couple of staffing agencies too, and that seemed to help.

Sure it can sound great if the caps aren't noisy, the pots aren't shot and the transistors are good. I used to own lots of that stuff BITD.

I stopped by EMS, while we were out for dinner. $200. That seems high end to me

Same on the other side of the world. But where I am, it's getting tighter and tighter.

I got mine for $56 a couple years back in an end of season sale. Sorry, wouldn't have recommended if I knew it was so much.

It's cheap for a Gore-Tex hardshell.
