Finally saved enough to get the Caad10 off Layawy But???
Hello, I posted earlier wanting some help picking out a new bike because I'm spending more than I should so I want to make a good decision. I started with the entry level Carbon offerings from Trek, Specialized, Scott, Felt, etc... but found that many reviews say the low end Carbon bikes have quite a bit more flex or give under power and me being a big guy with powerful legs might find that to be a negative so I kept searching and found the 2013 Caad10 Black Inc on clearance for $2,300 (down from $4,100) it has an aluminum frame that weighs in at 1150 grams, Ultegra Wheels, Ultegra Brakes, FSA Light Carbon Crank, and Di2 Shifting. I rode the Supersix Evo 5 and the Caad10 back to back and like the ride of the Caaad10 a bit more so that should be the deciding factor, right? Even a salesman at a competing shop said the price was a no brainer for what I'm getting but I still find myself thinking about a Carbon bike with lesser components, lesser ride quality, but a flashy paint job??? I'm going to pick up the Caad10 on Monday but would like anyone to chime in with some advice and/opinions please! Thanks!
Here's a pic from my test ride, and yes I know the stem needs to be flipped, they also swapped the wheels for a set of Ultegra's from another Caad10 they had, size 60cm.

As a Cannondale fan myself, I would say keep this bike. The CAAD10 is really hard to beat and you did get a great deal on the bike. If a flashy paint job was what you wanted they make more than the black inc CAAD10.

That bike is "on sale" at my Trek LBS for $2999. I'm not a Trek guy, but this particular LBS really dumps the prices when the new stuff comes in.
Begs the question, how the f--- did you score that for $2300? That's $500 less than prices for comparable USED rides on eBay.
Was that ride a double return on a triple discount special? If it's legit brand new, test ride mileage only, that price is sketchy crazy bonkers.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't that model run ~$2000 to $2200 on the Trek credit line for dealers? They'll make more in margin selling a pair of shoes, two last-season jerseys, and four bottle cages than they'll see on the ROI on that CAAD10. And it's not like that ride isn't in demand. Fishy.

It's a steal. You better make sure the bike is still going to be there on Monday if you want it....it's not going to last long at that price.

Take this as you will:
Everyone I know, myself included, who has bought a bike because it was a great deal has ended up not happy with the purchase.
Everyone I know, myself included, who has bought a bike that they went gaga over it has ended up happy with it, even if they paid too much.
All that means is if you get a great deal on something you love, it is all good, but loving the great deal is not the same as loving the bike.
Major Caveat: I know several riders who have no emotional attachment to their bike, so none of what I said applies if you are in that camp.

Your post only omitted the following: "Let's go Tonto. Our work here is done."*
*Just so I am not accused of Rand Paulian type plagiarism, I should say this quotation comes from "The Lone Ranger" television program, ca 1952.

I'm not stateside now, but in Cincinnati and Lexington, KY, that's a $3000 retail bike, minimum. If I were you, I'd spend $9,200, buy them all, sell them on eBay for BINs of $2700, and make the easiest $1600 you'll ever make in your life!!!
Sweet bike, sweet deal, hope you enjoy it, dude!!

Didn't we go through this last month? I blame this on a bad case of internet-itis. Despite having ridden the CAAD10 and actually preferred it, the perception that carbon must be better remains! I just passed up a screaming club deal on a new carbon frame as I honestly wasn't convinced that it would be a better bike than my CAAD10.
Get it, ride it. You'll forget about the SS evo5 pretty quickly.

That's a great deal on a great bike. Looks like we are doing the opposite with the wheels - mine came with the Ultegra and I swapped them out for the Elites (all of my other bikes have the Elites and for me IMHO they ride better than the Ultegras).

Thanks for the replies, I liked the look of the Ultegra wheelset and was told by more than one person that the Shimano wheels have better bearings? I plan to find a set of black carbon clinchers to give it that stealthy look sometime in the near future so either set would get me by til then. I feel better about my purchase now and will post back when I get her home, Thanks!

Looks like youre looking for reasons to get a carbon bike. If thats the case just buy the supersix with lower components. Its going to bug you to the point where you wont enjoy your caad10. I on the other hand chose the caad10 over the supersix. my intention was buying the supersix until I test rode the caad10. The extra savings went to wheels .

I saw this frameset for $575CAD, & passed when I found out it was female specific. I actually prefer this color o er the males version.

I agree with RollCNY. If the bike is something you will keep for the rest of your life and you will love it like a person, get exactly what you want and feel no shame in getting the pretty bike, even if it doesn't make sense financially.
I think the new Supersix bikes are grotesque and that CAAD10 Black looks better.
