bike build and frame BD CF
I would like to build up a new bike and just do it because I can get exact what I want. I have been looking in ebay Chinese frames and they are an unknown. I am not really interested in the usual brand name suspects except I would not mind a Ridley Noah. My choices is for a thread BB I have done great with shimano BB and cranks they are just easy to work on and press fit is just a step I do not want at this point. I have BD motobecane IM spirit with 9000 miles that has never given me an ounce of trouble and weighs 17.5 in a 59 with pedals. I am thinking just buying on those frames at bike island and saving myself the chance on an unknown generic frame. I realize there are BD haters but frankly they make a decent product and as long as you are a decent mechanic they are fine, but I am willing to listen to some opinions. My one-on-one comparison of the Moto with a Madone 5.2 was it did not ride one bit better and I rode it enough to get a real perspective.
I just wonder if anyone has built a bike with on of these frames and how did it go. I plan to go all ultegra maybe even the 6800 and I will build my own wheels. Most CF frames now are press fit and it seems they could be a thing of the past soon so I thought I might jump on a build. Any other thoughts on frames I would be interested. Want are the other choices of CF racing geometry frames that might work. Not interest in Specialized, Trek, or Giant, budget counts but would like to keep it under $1k. The benefit of Bike Island frame is that it is $599.

It sounds like you are where I was 2 years ago. I had a Moto IF with 19k miles on it, no problems. But when I had a right hip replaced I wanted a new bike to fit better. Was looking at the LeChampionCF. But asked my wife if I could buy just parts and build it, she said ok obviously. All parts put downstairs as recovery incentive. This frame is bought from aliexpress ($620) painted in their schemes or your custom desire, 3 weeks order to my door. The Ultegra Compact Double (890) off ebay and Soul S3.0 wheels (440). So the whole build was ~2,300. Now with almost 10k miles in 2 years it is a bike as great as anything else on the road.
I bought another frame and transferred the 6603 group from the Moto onto it, as my back up bike now.
If one was inclined with time an a delayed budget it might be nice to buy the LeChampion with DI2 and then buy a frame from China and then put the DI2 on your custom (or Pinarello/Colnago) frame and the sell the BD frame. Probably $4k to get it all done, riding a bike that is virtually identical to $12k bike.
