I saw a guy out this morning riding in this crap. Hardcore to the bone. Hope he survives.

Lot of Amish nearby ride bicycles, old men, old women and everything on down. They are always out. Humbling.

I saw -17F this morning driving in, windchill of -44F. The wind is simply howling, snow is drifting everywhere and it's blisteringly cold. Cycling is clearly out, in fact being outside is not going to happen. I had a 60 second walk from my car to my office and it was physically painful. There's also about 18 inches of fresh snow out there. I've got to move out of Chicago...

Actually, although by a small amount, days in the northern hemisphere have been lengthening for almost 2 weeks now. Temps not so much.

Good Lord...I know there's worse but we've hit rock bottom here in Illinois. Hit rock bottom and kept drilling LOL. -13 at the moment...pushing -40 windchill. Quite a bit of stuff is closed but not my workplace! (YAY!). I woke up at 6am...began digging again at 7:30 (got 8" of snow Sat/Sun, shoveled quite a bit yesterday, got plowed in again). Had to shovel in 15min sessions because my damn hands kept going numb. I have good gear...but not that good. It doesn't get this cold here...pretty much ever. Finally got it cleared by 9:30am and drove to work...

I hope we don't see any temps this low again anytime soon...this is pretty miserable.

I had to wear knee warmers today. It might get cold enough for toe covers this week.

yep, we are at -10 with windchills in the -35F range. We also had about 8 - 10"s of snow last night so that has blown drifts about 2'+ in my driveway. Wind chills down to -40 to -50F by morning. Good thing is work called and our plant is closed for my shift tonight so I think I'll just jump on my trainer and do a trainer road ride. Might be a while before I see clear/safe roads again.

Yeah...the road salt does not work at this temp so the roads are like an ice skating rink. The trucks have plowed but what's left is slick, hard packed ice/snow...its not much fun to drive on.

The funny thing is that its supposed to be pushing 40 by Sat...that's nearly a 60 degree swing!

I just wish the roads would be clear/dry with that 40 degree Sat...but I doubt it.

Nope...and figuring I only have the 1 bike...I'm not taking to salty/slushy roads with it. Nope...I'm sure I'll once again be looking out the window of my basement Sat morning, doing Sufferfest, like I always do... (I cant complain though, at like I have a bike and trainer to use).
