Any one have a bell?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I believe its mandatory to have a bell, & light on bike in our province too. I usually mean to put the bell on my road bike, but if I'm training I'm strictly on the road so its useless.
If I'm commuting, sometimes I'll stop off @ a park, ride on a MUP, walk along the sidewalk bike in tow, so a bell is called for.

I had this same bell. Brilliant ring. Good for early morning training and runners.

Living near downtown, its kinda hard to ride without a little bit of MUP riding. Its the law on the paths around here and they do periodic speed traps to enforce the laws. I keep my bell pointing to the back next to the stem and it is difficult to spot unless you are looking for it.

I have one on my bike. The fredliness is a small price to pay vs the hefty ticket the cops will give you if you don't have a bell. I also use lights if I'm out within half an hour of sunrise/sunset because that's another ticket.

Just ride a Ti frame, and pluck the rear brake cable. Whole frame acts as a bell.

I need a bell for both of my bikes. With a rack on my Ti, plucking the cables sounds rather 'thud'-ish.

what is the name of that bell? where can I order one?

Here is where I mount my bell. It's on the left side. I can always get to it from the drops and the hoods.

Here's my commuter setup. I leave before sunrise so I have a bunch of light.
I place my bell on the top part of the stem, I can reach it easier if I'm on the bar tops.

I saw that bell on facebook or kickstarter awhile back and was intrigued. I'm going to get one. I occasionally ride on a MUP and I'm tired of yelling out. With the bell I can get pedestrians attention from farther away. As far as bells go that one doesn't look too bad. It's pretty discreet but who cares how it looks anyways.

That seems like a really awkward location to put your bell.

A local bikeshop had it, it was a no-name mirror but it is fantastic. I need to go down there and buy another one (it's about 30mi away). Much better than the CycleAware roadie mirror you see sold at most shops which I have on my other road bike and I hate.

Not it at all. It's always near my controls and out of the way. Took me a while to find the right spot. I had it on the stem and in the middle of the handle bar but it was never right at my finger tips.

What happened to announcing "On your left" or "passing on your left" (or right). The bell thing does nothing for me as I have no idea where it's coming from. Got to admit I'd rather hear a bell than have someone pull up behind without an announcement, but would much rather know what they're doing with a shout out than hearing a bell.

What happened to "on your left" is earbuds. I use my bell to get the attention of people so they may hear me when I say "on your left". I haven't used the bell when passing a cyclist because I haven't ever passed a cyclist but the it works well for the walkers. My bell is on my cf road bike along with light, computer and heart rate monitor. The 1982 Peugeot is for very leisurely riding and has no gadgets. On that bike I just slow down and yell until I get the walker's attention.

It's common courtesy, as is "On your Left", which can be preceded by a timely "Ding'.
Attempting to pass another cyclist on the Right is simply Not Done, in right side driving countries.
