Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hanging Bike racks and Carbon bikes

I am looking at a lighter, hanging bike rack such as a Thule Helium Aero 3 instead of a platform style rack such as a Kuat. I want it for ease of installation and removal, but I do not want to risk damage to the frame. The Thule Helium has a dampening system where the bike mounts to the frame. I am wondering if anyone has experience with this system, particularly on a carbon frame (both road and MTB. Thanks.

If your carbon frame can support your weight, it can support its own weight on a rack. Two plus years with a hanging rack and I have taken my bike with me on trips of 450 - 750 miles with no issues.
