lets talk tights - whats your favorite?
I have a pair of Pearl Izumi P.R.O. Soft Shell Cycling Bib Tights and i'm due for a second pair. I'm tempted to go Rapha despite the price although i don't have a complaint about the PI tights.
What are your favorite winter tights? Anything I should look at?

I am cheap and just get the Mansfield 2 tights from Nashbar and the do what I want. I stay warm and they are fairly comfortable. I don't find myself out riding as much in the winter months but it's more a light and time restraint more than adequate clothing. I would like to some day invest in some really nice Assos or something along those lines but would hat to find out they are no better than what I have now.

If you like the PI bib tights, you might want to try their bib knickers. I find them much easier to get on and off, and I wear them anywhere from about 35-55 degrees.

I'm really loving my PI AmFib tights. They weren't cheap, but I'm from the "Cry once" school, and they've done the job down to 0°F several times this winter.

I'm also a fan of AmFibs. They're good for me from about 10-40 degrees. They get too warm over 40. Haven't tried them under 10 degrees. For me a ride that cold is a commute and I wear pants.
Since I've had AmFibs I've never worried about my legs getting cold. I wish I could find such an easy solution for my hands & feet.

Just bought a pair of PI AmFIB tights about a two months ago. Don't have to worry about my legs getting cold at all anymore.

I have a PI ELITE and like it a lot. I was looking for a another one, preferably a PRO version but it's a bit pricey right now. Then today, Chainlove was selling this for $60 --> https://www.competitivecyclist.com/ma...bib-tight-mens
Don't know yet how they would fare but the price got me to buy 2.

Not really tights, or even cycle specific, but I like Sport Hill's XC pant. Warm, water and wind resistant fronts, moves well, has held up very well, and is close fit without being skin tight so it's easy to add a base layer of any weight you want. Good for anything from freezing to about 50 degrees F with cycling shorts underneath. As cold as you want with proper base layer.

I have a pair of LG (Louis Garneau) tights, they are fleeced lined and keep me warm during riding. I love these cycling tights.

I have one pair of long bibs and sometimes I combine one of the summer tights with a ski base layer.
To me, the annoying thing about winter riding is the cold in the face and the hands, sometimes even the arms. If it's sunny but cold I just go with summer bibs and they're usually fine.

Castelli Sorpasso (I think that's what it's called) are my favorites. I like the chamois in them, plus they're warm.

Still new at this. What type of cycling jersey do you wear with the tights? I'm wearing leg and arm warmers, regular shorts, and regular cycling jersey (which is very chilly in 45 degree temps!)

To be honest I am not that picky other than...............they must have a chamois and not look like your dumped in your pants like some tights look like with those way oversized pads! They have to be cheap in price because let's face it.................there is no reason one pair of tights should be $100+ point blank! They are usually made in 3rd world countries for pennies on the dollar!
For that reason I gravitate toward Zimco cycle wear.............great designs and colors that are visible and cheap and fit right!

OP and Zvez,
What range of temps are you wanting to ride in? I generally go from 25+ F. I have a few different tights and jacket/Jersey combos. I have found that the Giordana Silverline stuff gives me an incredible range, the Jacket with a L/S jersey (no baselayer) is great at the lower temps, same goes for the tights. Once I hit 40's I find the tights to be a little warm, but have some Castelli's that have been incredible. I don't really ride much below 25 though.

I like the Specialized Therminal tight without a chamois. It's loose enough around the waist so that you can wear your favorite shorts under them. Nice and warm.

I have a pair of these as well, I got them @ $150.00... I'm happy with them in the mid 30s... I need something lighter for the warmer weather now...

For 45F, I'd be wearing that, plus a thin, sleeveless baselayer and a wind vest.
