Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Went on a short out-and-back run that featured a 10% upgrade. PR'd that segment. I especially enjoyed the 10% negative upgrade on the way back.

Warmed up to -4°. Scheduled to be -27° for the commute tomorrow morning. No, that's not including wind chill. I have a feeling that there aren't going to be too many people commuting. Wife will be one of the many working from home.

Isn't a negative upgrade where they kick you out of first class and send you back to economy to rub elbows with the hoi polloi?

In cycling related news, my old BCS Hincapie kits are still the most comfortable I've worn. Hincapie makes some good stuff.

Perhaps the thread should be "How much nicer can a faster bike make you?"

Chilly. Gotta love the Midwest. We don't get numbers like that, unless you live in the mtns. Buddy of mine had his pipes freeze a few weeks ago, flooding his place in Leadville. Chilly up there.

I begged for Hincapie. When I gave a set a few test rides, it was amazing. I put them on, then completely forgot about them until it was time to take them off.

Thanks ts. For some reason, I didn't bother to go down to the old Speed channel, as it seems they have gone away from a lot of motorsports coverage.

New bike is stiff. Stiffer than the Paketa, but not bone jarring like the Madone. Overall, relatively comfortable.

Comfortable and less stiff v. stiff and less comfortable. Nice to have the option, although I doubt the Paketa sees much time.

That's exactly right. It's like a second skin. You forget about them. I've been using them on the rollers and it's been great.

If the return matches the investment and we take that spot, we'll be more involved. We'll see how Panache goes, but I bet it's no Hincapie.

New hard drive and motherboard installed by Dell tech. He said he rarely has to work on the older Dell machines. Not so with the last two years. Ten months, and mine was dead.

The firm noted the unreliability of the Dell desktop I use at the office, and kindly bought me a MacBook Pro.
