Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I rode 35 miles on my road bike today in 45ºF temps. After riding the past few days in sub 20ºF temps on the MTB, the difference was amazing. I felt like I was FLYING on the Addict, and it seemed so much EASIER in the warmer temps on the lighter, faster rolling bicycle. It was like taking a 10lb. weight off your bat in the batting circle and stepping up to the plate. I kept looking down @ my speedo and seeing 20-25 mph and shaking my head because it was so much easier than riding my MTB @ 10-15 mph. And climbing was so much less effort.

I'll be on the road bike tomorrow, but it will be like 10ºF with 40 mph winds. Good grief winter cycling can suck. Oh well. Beats sitting around getting fat like Gomer.

Not exactly, but there are bikes involved on the lists of grievances.

I came home yesterday because I have a freelance gig in an office in town. (Friends who took care of me are in IL) I also have leather orders to work on. Gertrude doesn't fit in the Fiat. (which by the way is truly awful to drive on its stock tires in -20 temps. Hockey pucks. Bridges are terrifying.) I'm not sure what I want to do yet. We have big blowouts every two years. This was our third. I'm usually a three strikes and your out kind of person.

what's the over-under on your "average 41-er" actually reading the first post in a thread with more than 10 posts accumulated?

2ºF. Time to ride.

If friggin astronauts can do spacewalks, I can ride this morning. It will just be another chapter for the Pcad HTFU for Dummies™ softcover book and digital download which will be on Amazon in time for Xmas 2014.

Frontage Road. Said I was from Salt Lake City. Sort of makes sense, as I did spend time in California.

I grew up in Michigan and now reside in Arizona...it put me in Milwaukee, WI.

Probably got freaked out when I called carbonated beverages "soda" instead of "pop".

I got 50-something last night - there's a 20 minute time limit and I ran out of time before getting through all 200. Maybe I heard 120-130 songs. Worst possible scenario is knowing the song but not immediately knowing the name - it's an easy way to waste a 15-20 seconds while you mentally fast forward through the song looking for the title - happened to me a lot.
I know all the songs (did the first 75) but this got way too annoying

Something like that here. Benson doesn't care. She still wants to sit on the hill and chew sticks.
