Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Mrs. rjones28 and I were just discussing notebook durability. Her MacBook Pro is quite abused. I mentioned that there is a notebook made with carbon fiber. Her immediate response was, "does it asplode?"

And possibly A-Rod. Honest to God, someone called him the "Lance Armstrong of baseball" last week. As long as you're a point of reference, you're still relevant, right?

In other news, LoP is assembling the fixings for an excellent roast chicken dinner. (Hey! He complained when I didn't give him credit for making the gingerbread streussel French toast so...)

The weight gain everyone experiences in their first year in the NFL is nothing but vitamins, healthy diet, and access to a quality weight room for the first time in their lives. Obviously.

i have to get back to running. i'm all full of excuses with losing the free gym membership and the weather being dismal. next 5K is in 2 weeks and i haven't run at all since the last one. it's funny how being busy and stressed out doesn't leave time for exercise, but the lack of exercise makes me more stressed out... but then i get stressed out when i think about going for a run but have too much other stuff to do.

fortunately i've been getting out of the house a lot more, so even though i'm eating like crap and not running, i haven't gained any weight back yet.

it's snowing again.

i had a choice yesterday of riding on the ice or shooting an endurance race. i chose the latter.

Winner - this guy ironmaned it and did the whole thing solo. 3 hours, 6.5 mile course around the whole lake.

Thanks LAJ!

It wasn't too bad. Temps were in the mid-upper 20s and I'm well equipped parka/snow pants/winter boots wise for shooting in the cold. Anything over zero feels balmy these days. As for the riders, the handlebar covers help immensely because your hands get the worst of it, and then the only other issue is your neck/face.

January's a tough month to get out, weather wise. Try setting an appointment for yourself and do a timed midday run. 15 or 20 minutes is fine. And it's usually with warmest part of the day.
