Happy New Addiction XXXI

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

If you have an SUV, you don't need to know how to drive in the snow, right?

I need to run a few errands, but the sight of debris blowing down the street isn't encouraging me to go out.

Unless the forecast changes significantly, I will be working from home on Monday. -59* wind chills in the morning are not reasonable.

I don't get a chance to ride outside during the week, but I will on Saturday. And MN is a whole 'nother level of winter beyond NY.

Looks like the Gov closed down schools for Monday. They cancelled once when I was in junior high, or so, it was -20°, -70° wind chill that day.

Incorrectamundo!! Real men go out and shovel the driveway by hand, eschewing the wussy trappings of affluence and privilege, adding hours to our lifespan, and eliminating centimeters from our waistline with each storm.

High five to NY studs @RollCNY and @BillyD!!

WRONG!

I, in my little 1998 Saturn SL, had no trouble driving in the snow. I passed by plenty of clueless idiots in SUV's who are a menace to the rest of us.

Your sarcasm meter didn't blip even a little bit at his question?

I love seeing SUVs on the side of the road. Why people think that being in a taller, heavier vehicle will help them with handle slippery roads better is beyond me.

By my inexact surveying methodology, 83% of stranded CNY vehicles are Subarus and SUVs. Just because they go through snow doesn't mean they stop in snow. Part of why I have never owned an Automatic is the ability to control speed through the transmission without having to apply the brakes. (or breaks to be #41ier ).

Of course, if they have an Audi Quattro, they know how to power slide through corners and keep it on the pavement, so to speak.

But the random power surges keep killing family members.
