Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

12,000 miles, and no days missed due to injury.

In 2012 I rode almost 16,000 miles, but this past year was just over 13,500.

12,000 is an easy goal, but quite respectable.

I think 5-6,0000 should be doable this year. I'll be starting right away instead of waiting until April like last year. Thanks to renewed focus and determination, I am also riding faster than last year too. Now to just avoid illness and injury....

Nothing big here considering last year was a real bust with surgery and complications. Shooting for 4000 and increasing core strength by a big margin. I can say all my PT after surgery made riding so much better and a lot of it was core strengthening. I thought I had a decent core but found out otherwise. Looking forward to just getting out and getting in miles really.

I am jealous of those that have mild winter where you can ride 12 months of the year. In Canada, I can get in 8 months if I am lucky. I am hoping to get 4000 this year, low number but I have a job, wife, kids, life etc....

5'-60,000 miles is a pretty big window.

I'm positive you can complete more than 5 miles.

2700. 3x a week to ride, 1 day a week to run. Plus work has me on the road at least one week a month and tgen getting the little one to school every other week.

Otherwise I'd be itching for about 5k.

I understand that weather is a factor for many, but most of us have jobs/lives.

My GF is a mother of 2, works 40 hours a week, rides 12,000 miles a year, and still finds time to do a couple Ironmans most years.

Cycling doesn't take time away from our lives, it's the life we choose to live.

12,000 is my standard goal. I've been hitting that for the last 3 years. For some reason 13,000 and 14,000 aren't exciting numbers to shoot for, and I don't think I'm ready for 15,000 this year.

As long as I'm at 12,000 I feel like I'm in relatively decent shape all year and I can focus on the smaller goals along the way.

I'm guessing 10,000 to 12,000. 5200 for commuting, 5200 for weekends and racing, and extra Tuesday and Thursday rides totrain.

I ride for fun, not to accumulate miles.

That said, I plan to complete an SR series on top of commuting as much as possible, so I can see 5,000 miles happening. That would be the most I've done in a year by about 500.

*Continue the 2 centuries a month like I've been doing since summer
*Don't get burnt out
*Don't crash my MTB too hard

No major crashes x 400 hours (averaging 7/10 perceived effort per hour) = miles for year 2014

I hover between 3,000 to 4,000 miles every year.
With a full time job, full time kids, and a full time wife, it's unrealistic for me to get any more miles in.
