Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

If you like that bike and can afford it, just buy it and ride it at 20mph or whatever, and don't care about mockers.
What's the problem with the 58 BTW? Even I could spin a 58/21 easily.

Your chiropractor will.
The riding position of a shiv requires quite a lot of flexibility.

Oh yeah and tell me, when did you earn champion stripes?

What's funny for me is I can easily get into position. But I can't hold my head up long enough to see where I'm going

No one expects people with Ferraris to be professional race car drivers so think of this the same way.
You are an aficionado of bike technology and engineering.
You will probably be passed by lesser bikes, but if it doesn't bother you...

I love the way TT bikes look and would not fault anyone for buying one just to show off on a wall as art.
I would rather hang this bicycle than some overpriced painting.

My sentiments exactly, but then I'm just another older guy whose bikes include a C59 (with Dura-Ace/Di2) and an Infinito (Campy Record 11s).

It's the world championship colors that's the issue. ride any bike you like, and can afford. Many, myself included consider it poor form to rock world champioship stripes unless you've earned them.

If you don't care that a number of traditionalist cyclists and racers find it to be poor form, go ahead and get it with Rainbow colors, but realize a number of people find it to be poor form.

Probably a moot point if that particular bike - or replicas of it - is/are not being made to the public.

But there have been countless bikes that have sported championship stripes as a matter of its design in one form or another. Heck, I had a Specialized Allez (the 2007's I believe) that had them around the seat tube.

That's ridiculous. Do you know how many bikes fly the rainbow colors? Merckx bikes for one, Bianchi for another, Giro for thirds.

Drop the seat about 4 inches. Raise the bars above the seat. Wear a fedora.

doesn't mean I have to buy them.

They sell a lot of replica rainbow jerseys; I'm not going to wear one of those either.

Each his own.

If you want to be mocked (and not just by the bike gods), you'll need one of these. (Found locally on Craigslist. He's only asking $150 -- I'm betting it's still available):

It's not the same thing as buying a bike that has earned the rainbow colors as has Merckx, Masi, Bianchi etc.
