Been down the road 300 times.

Just reading this makes me really consider how the sport can be disastrous with little warning. I've fallen hard several times as many of us have here, but that is a very eye opening encounter and I hope you get up to speed soon!

My cycling miles are way low, but my running miles are way high.

It's peanuts compared to some people in the forum, but I'm at least proud of how I'm trending:

And it keeps getting steeper! Hoping to hit 5000 kilometers this year, or close to it.

Canadian_giant 07-29-14 01:05 PM

I start riding in April (snow and ice up until that point here in Quebec) and am up to 1900 km so far. I hope to hit 4000 km by November (when winter kicks in again). I am seriously jealous of those who can ride more than 8 months a year!

No doubt - I have friends (women) in the U.K. that are ahead of the leader by a couple thousand. It's your own trend that matters.

Same boat here in Colorado. Last winter was brutal.

I plan to hit 1,000 miles on my road bike by the end of the year.

4151zero 08-19-14 09:44 PM

1387.xx miles since the end of April, 2014.

cyclebycle13 08-20-14 04:42 AM

5171.9 miles for 2014. Still going. Looks like I have a shot at breaking 7000 this year instead of the usual 6000. Over 1400 miles in July alone.

GlennR 08-20-14 04:49 AM

Since May this year:
1,043.46 miles
28,070' climbing
38,818 calories

I'm 58 and cycling less than a year.

TexMac 08-20-14 01:46 PM

year to date 4,000 miles. Climbing 8,490.. might hit 7k this year
I'm 35 and cycling since last year July

goenrdoug 08-20-14 02:26 PM

I had this crazy goal of putting 3,000 miles on my new 2014 Felt Z5 that I purchased in May.

2014 Z5 2,617.6 mi

Unfortunately my LBS put a monkey wrench into that plan three weeks ago, I held out until Sunday though.

2015 Z3 54.6 mi

They basically gave me what I paid for my Z5 towards the Z3 and wow, its worth it.

RaptorDuner 09-27-14 11:05 PM

Started cycling in April 2014:

108 Rides
1816 miles
48,000 ascent
103,000 calories

The reason I started cycling was to lose weight and get in shape. When I was 33, I had a BP of 210/130 and was put on medication for that and Gout. I'm now 41 and when I started, I weighed 222 lbs and now I weigh 185~ and my UNMEDICATED BP is 138/85 and I've also quit the Gout meds.

cyclebycle13 09-28-14 04:26 AM

Passed 6000 miles on Friday (9/26), about 2.5 months ahead of my usual.

I passed 6K recently, too. I'm around 6350 at the moment. :thumb:

To date recorded on STRAVA 3722.3 miles.

Just crossed 800 miles for 2014. I know that's pitiful comparatively but its a high for me, and I hope to cross 1,000 miles by the end of the year. Only hit 900 last year… so I'm happy to be where I am, especially with a new baby this year and all of my other activities (racquetball, basketball and volleyball occasionally)

So for the most part my riding season is over. I've met my 2014 goals as of yesterday.

I wanted a 4,000 mile year and I wanted to climb Mt Everest (29,029') 4 Times. Achieved both of those yesterday (distance on my commute into work and elevation on the commute home).

I've pulled something in my right foot last Sunday in achieving this and will be taking a little time off before hitting the spin bike and the pool to start training for next year's goals that include a few Aquabike competitions.

I didn't record my mileage until I bought a Lemond Versaille in September '06, hit 50,000 total miles in August. That is on all bikes, so far this year 5,800, had a couple years of 8,000 plus. I ride year around but last couple years winter in Austin TX so warmer.
I turned 70 in June, have arthritis and ride for physical and mental health. My doctor says keep it up!
