How'd it go for you at Carter?

The Cervelo came out pretty nice.

Geez. I don't smoke or drink or take drugs or gamble and I rarely have red meat. What's left to give up for Lent? Sex? Coffee? Cussing? I don't hardly think so. Maybe I need to cultivate a vice or two so I have something to sacrifice for next year.

First solo gig went great. I killed, they will book me there in the future.

    Local. Gig. Traction.

That's what I've been working towards.

    I was an idiot.

There were timing chips, and I put it in the shoes I was going to wear.... I chose the other shoes instead, and realized I forgot it till the last minute. I started dead last, and with the yellow line rule, moving up was hard/impossible. I did see a couple spots I could have after replaying the movie. I was making progress up the hill, the front was in sight, then they hit it the last little stair-step to the lake. A couple hundred yards is like a mile.

I picked up some stragglers. and soon, we had formed the second pack. 15 or so, by the second lap. We worked together, then everyone started slowing on Road 29 before the little climb to the curve turning onto the finish on Road 12E. There was talk of "lets not kill ourselves for 30th, be careful," etc. rapwithtom asked who doesn't think they're a sprinter.... No answer. I said definitely not, and I'm going now. I was able to ride away, which was OK.

The course wasn't my cup of tea regarding the climb, but the rest of the up and downs give me some promise for some of the other road races.

    That's the spirit.

Racing in Colorado already? I would have never figured that.

Thanks Billy. Yep. We're one for two. The Frostbite TT scheduled for last weekend was moved to this weekend.

No skin off my back, as that's not my discipline. Though, they do sell a TT type seatpost for the new bike, and with electric, not so hard to convert.

You did well. First in that second group, it looked like. At least that first race is under your belt.

I forgot it's electric. Did you get DA or Ultegra? Sweet. Let's see the bike.

    You should get that seatpost.

I'm just an Ultegra type fellow. I'm going to take a few tours around Morgul at some point, and if I'm close to satisfied with my fitness, I'll likely go with the seatpost. Racing on a Friday night would be weird.

...one of the nice things about where I live here near the American river is that the
Sandhill Cranes fly over in formations every year upon arrival to nest and breed nearby
on the Mokelumne and some other spots they like.

The first flock to arrive came over today making the very distinctive sounds they make in flight.

They'll be here until fall, when they again make a big show about leaving.

Did 48 miles today. Very tired and sore. Much suffering. Almost puked a couple times.

Too broad. Need to distinguish ourselves from those SS riding, PBR drinking, calf tattoo hipsters.

Spent few hours cross-training via digging in snow/ice. Saw lots of sun and temps in the 20s (woo!) which brought significant melting and the formation of a rather large pond/small lake on my corner. I poked around for about an hour, digging exploratory holes to find the covered storm drain - not terribly easy when the snow bank is more than 3' deep and 6' wide. I finally wised up, pulled my head out of my ass and looked at google street view to locate the drain relative to a street sign. We now have a slightly smaller lake on the corner.
