Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

End of the ride went by Viking Liquor. I'm out of beer, so it seemed logical. Bought 24oz PBR, High Life, and Dos Equis - one per jersey pocket. Rode home.

Hopefully many of them and their carriers, mice & deer, have been killed off during this unusually harsh winter.

I still need to wear snowshoes on walks. I suspect that will change this week.

Sure. It was like 7 or 8 feet. And I had a saw in my hand.

I was gonna say the snow would break your fall but the saw negates any safety advantage offered by the snow.

My pruning saw isn't very scary.

We have a bunch of apple trees. I think we'll have apples this year. I do no pruning or apple tree care.

I don't do much to the big old tree, but a couple of branches needed to come down before Spring.

That bike is heavier than the Paketa and R3SL combined.

Another casualty of the bike industry. Joe's Bike Shop. I went in to pick up the Redline and Joe was closing the doors the next day. I got free dice valve caps.

That is awesome to hear. He put a lot of work into this, and deserves it all. Well done.

I learned to cross country ski working at a ski center. We never skied with poles, carrying axes and machetes instead, for trail clearing. We would ski and hack trail, which was great until my buddy cut the tail of one of his skis.

1st race day of the year complete and the crash monkey is off my back. Did two, team mate won both, I lead him out in the first one and died in the second.

Good way to end a two week training block and glad to be racing again.

I think I know that feeling. It was a literal blast. I was the ride starter, and I believe in making sure the new folks aren't shelled in 2 blocks. So, make sure they're good, then try and catch the fast people. 20 minute intervals, and recover with the tailgunners. Wind did kick up, but no biggie. Too nice to *****.

I'm glad the new bike is what you hoped.
