Casually Deliberate
I decided that anyone could gather up 180 poems and put them on a website and that using other people's poems was sort of cheating and that the real challenge would better lie in writing 180 original poems one's self. So, I did. Every day for 180 days, I posted a poem I had written, usually that same day. I composed triolets and haikus and cinquains and a Shakespearean sonnet and all kinds of different forms. Feel free to browse around and read more than just the two I posted links to. There are also some short stories and a longer piece of fiction from the year I participated in National Novel Writing Month AKA NaNoWriMo. It's a murder mystery called "Fate Pays the Rent" and I believe it's about 50,500 words.
Needless to say, I don't have time for those kinds of projects these days but it's fun to look back and sometimes be surprised by how very well many of the pieces turned out. (You probably noted the Walt Whitman influence in the poem about the bus driver and there's a poem on the site about old Walt as well.)

"O Bus Driver" was written after I reached my poetry goal. I had heard about Billy Collins's "Poetry 180 Project" and decided to create my own. His thinking was that if the coordinating group collected 180 poems and put them on a website then a teacher could choose one at random to read to the class during every day of the school year. They weren't supposed to make the students analyze the poems; they were only supposed to be read aloud and allowed to float in the air, as it were, over and around the students' heads during the day.

100% agree the best way to get your head around a poem is to have someone who understands it (or at least mostly understands it) read it out loud. Don't worry if you don't get it, or don't get some parts of it. Just skip that part, come back to it later, read it out loud again. Poetry was the original memorization device, like from way back in the days of velum before the printing press. If you read great poetry enough times, you will memorize it without even trying. Then it rattles around in your head and stays with you forever. Stuck in traffic, you can begin: "I got one good look in the raccoon's eyes as he fell from his tree, came to his feet and perfectly still seized the baying hounds in his dull fierce stare..." Lol, in LA that's a great thing to have up your sleeve.
I'm going to read your site, please tell me how to navigate it.

Craigslist, Oh my god what an ultimate cluster eff. I have chased two different sets of leather seats. 1st set is a guy on my Camaro forum. Front and back seats plus matching door panels, $450.00 . He offers seats alone to 2 other members for $400.00. They decline. I offer $400 2 weeks later for seats and door panels. He "just sold them an hour ago to a guy on craigslist for $350." still has the panels. Ok how much for the door panels?..... $100.00. We settle at $75.00. but cant meet today , lets do it tomorrow......sory how about monday...... tomorrow for sure..... sorry I had to sell them to my boss.
So I find another set on craigs list. from a 2000 fire bird. She is asking $200 for all 4 seats. I call and ask if she would throw the door panels in? "sure" but I cant do it today, hows tomorrow? super, see you then.....whats that? you have to work a double? ok, Tuesday then.... hello? oh...no kidding...another double... ok wed. is fine........Hello? your father had a stroke? what a shame sorry to hear it...you have my sympathies..... what would you like me to do? should I wait? hello?.......hello?.......
wtf is wrong with people? I would like to beat Craigs skull in with a baseball bat for developing another way for people to irritate the living sh-- out of me. You wanna sell it or not? its your effin price I didnt write the effin add you did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ill sell parts but I would rather sell the whole thing....make up your damn mind you effin morans. Craigs list my ass, more like s***list!

With limestone (and dolostone) you are getting into the karst specialists - I've worked with a couple of those as well. Must track the poem down sometime.

On the bright side, at least you'll be nice and slim by the time spring rolls around.

It was cool chatting in his office with Reed Whittemore back in the early 70's, though.

I could not continue to do so without a considerable sense of humor and a more laid
back, California ethos than you are exhibiting here. Craig and his list are us, with all that
idea entails. Of course it's a huge cluster****. It's free, for ****'s sake.
I used to react much like you back in my days as a CL rookie. Now, I just smile and move on.
You ought to actually post an ad to sell something, just for the experience. It will immediately
generate fifteen inquiries of a generic nature like, "Is it still for sale ? Please reply." from guys
collecting e-mail addresses, hoping you will be stupid enough to respond using yours.
I admit that I absolutely CL, because it is the American entrepreneurial circus writ large across the innerweebz.
