Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

that's what the girl upstairs did the first day i was here. we got her out with the pitchfork and roofing shingles she found in the garage. that pitchfork... it's my new best friend.

i bought an overnight parking pass for $20. two nights later i got a $20 parking ticket for parking on the wrong side of the street (i forgot about switching odd/even, and it appears so did a lot of other people until they gave out tickets.) i figured out a system to not get sucked into the ruts involving 200 point turns, but i'm sad that maggie probably isn't going to survive this winter unscathed.

Better than nothing. I can never seem to do more than 35 or 40 minutes on a trainer or rollers. Kudos.

Did the EC team ride today. It's good for 5-20 minute intervals that are all the rage this time of year. More snow predicted tonight, tomorrow and this week, so just glad to have been outside that last two days.

sherwin-williams superpaint is the ****.

i should have only bought a quart instead of a gallon, unless things look different in daylight. it covered the bright green in one coat, no primer, and i'm going to end up with most of the gallon left over.

now i'm just not sure about the color i picked.

We are getting just enough to eff up the roads and mess up plans for school/work/cycling.

And in my experience, if alcohol is involved, paint jobs and women look rougher in the morning.

I walked a half mile to find out there were no volunteers wrenching on bikes today and the building was locked then walked half a mile back. Then up to the Minit Mart for half and half and back. Then down to the shop where I waited for an hour to try to give a young man a free bike and, of course, he never showed up so I walked back up the hill to the apartment. Now I'm considering another trip to the Minit Mart so LoP can have some chocolate cuz I seem to have eaten a Snickers from my mom's house and the last Mountain bar. By the end of the day I will have walked ~2 miles in the rain and most of it was pointless. On the upside, there will be coffee and a happy boyfriend.
