Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Usually my bracket blows up the first day during something like the Wofford/Florida match-up. I'd like to see Gonzaga take it but that would be quite the long shot.

The bracket is done! Let the games begin. Unfortunately, I will be in 8 hours of orientation on Tuesday. No Madness for me.

That's a long damn parade. Our local parade is tomorrow. I've been invited to march with the Master Composter/Recyclers but I also enjoy watching from the sidewalk.

Why did you talk about riding (vs actually riding)? Do you live somewhere with bad weather?

Good deal. It's generally harder in your mind than the actual event.

it was a meeting to plan for the upcoming season of group rides which start in may for the club. there was discussion about scheduling and routes and picking ride leaders, etc. i mostly went just to get reacquainted with the group after taking a few years off from riding with them. that, and the organizer lives a block away from me.

it was 20° today. one girl who commutes year-round rode there. everyone else talked about how their computrainer classes were going and the indoor tt that the club's team placed 3rd in yesterday.

oh, and i saw someone out running on my block this afternoon. i've been hesitant to run in this neighborhood, but as long as i get a block or two south or west of where i live, it gets a little nicer, and it has gotten warm enough that the sidewalks are finally clear of ice, so i may give it a go this week.
