Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

And it don't get better instantly.

I used to put dabs on tea tree oil on the chafed bits after randonnees which helped protect from infection and dry out the skin. And the monumental sting probably served to make the after-pain more bearable.

Our (Machka's and mine) "return" to cycling continues with some success.

We finished a 121km/75 mile ride today. Relatively flat in a hilly area. Took some doing to get the right profile.

Anyway, I was glad our unit has a bath tub... and... a spa bath arrangement. I feel much better now. But jeez, I am out of practice with this stuff.

Machka has a century planned for next weekend. We'll be 40km/25-mile out-and-back legs along what is a pretty decent cycleway we have here, then on to the road to a turnaround point. The weather has cooled off a bit which is great, and the tourists are going home, which is excellent, so the roads and the cycleway aren't nearly as crowded.

We'll see how it goes.

it's in the wait for confirmation stage. the company i was talking to is planning a reorganisation. i was asked if i would be interested in filling a position that would come about from the reorganisation. I said yes. Now they have to decide if the reorganisation will definitely go ahead this year. So it is out of my hands and I am just waiting on the edge of my seat. one major hurdle in the planning is that HR has agreed that they would sponsor me for a work visa if it goes ahead, so at least that won't be a road block. probably nearer the 4th quater if it goes ahead.

My wife has determined life is too short to not have an improved dining/living room. Dining room table, chairs, hutch, and coffee table. What a pain in the ass.

I didn't, but in the grand scheme, there really is a lot I don't know. Which is reinforced daily.

That's how wives roll.

Fasten your seat belt.

Gave Lynskey total make over... It looks very sharp. Scared to post them in HOT OR NOT while moe and the sheriff are tossing verbal barrages....is amusing though. I thought moe was headed to the time out corner. Kids will be kids..

Don't be ascared. Curious to see the Allez, as well.

What's with all the Specialized stuff lately? For a brand I don't much care for, I sure am liking some of them lately.

Around two bucks a day to keep peace. Worth it in spades. Mathing isn't my skill, but I know some things.
