Fanboy here for Cervelo any others?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I was shopping for a Synapse ultegra at the time ($2k budget), and when I found a brand new R3 with dura ace for $2600, I bought it immediately based on the geometry (I had an S1 before). I have nothing to compare the bike to, but I don't race and only wanted a light bike for climbing and for longer rides. It's very comfy and I can easily do 60+ miles without breaking a sweat. It's not really a looker, but it's a clean understated design that I love.

IMO...in the end...when you reach a certain price point (talking retail)...the "quality of the bikes will be similar. It all depends on what you are looking for.

The headtube length to me just seems like nitpicking. You can achieve a lower position by either sizing down or going with a smaller frame. I don't see how running a -17 would be a deal breaker...it wasn't for me.

I also used to work at a shop that sold Cervelos, along with Cannondale and Specialized. I did not wrench...but I do see all the bikes that come in for work. There were no more issues with the Cervelos than there were with the Dales and Specialized. All three use a press fit BB...so that is a wash. For what its worth...I saw more Cannondales come in with creaking BB's than Cervelo and Specialized combined.

The internal routing is kind of a pain...but not as bad as some describe. I routed the cables on my own...and I do minimal wrenching on bikes.

I've had my S2 since late 2011. Its more than enough bike for me. I was thinking about an R3...but since the redesign of the S2/3...I just may end up picking up another S2.

um, so says the SRAM guy! I ride all the time with a guy that has SRAM, only downside to it I see is the chain's always falling off........

Have to admit it took less time for someone to take the bait than I imagined, 6 minutes to be exact.

That is nice! I don't get spending all that money ($10K) on an ultra-light frame and then use those wheels. Enve's are a much better choice although the yellow adds a good touch.

My bike shop sells Cervelo, Wilier, and Specialized. The Wilier bikes have a really good look to them. Will need to talk to them. Anyone try Wilier? Thoughts?

And of course it's the most expensive, so people will praise the bike that much more haha.

Starting to even lean more towards weight and less aero which kinda squashes the S5 a little bit. Thanks for everyones input! Have some research to do and bikes to try.
You should read this article in Road Bike Action about aero bikes:
Very interesting.

Your R3 looks really nice. I like that color scheme better then the new one.

Been really looking hard so many brands on the internet (especially this last week) and really am drawn back to the Cervelo. Just really like the look.
