Trek Crossrip VS Specialized Tricross VS Kona Rove

I am fairly new to cycling and I am looking to purchase my second bike and I want a heavy duty road/cyclocross style bike that I can also use for touring in the future.

Here are the three bikes I am looking at and would like suggestions as to which is the better one to go with. If you were to chose, which one would you go with? Which is the better deal for the components you get?

    Trek Crossrip elite

    http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes...rossrip_elite/

    Kona Rove

    http://www.konaworld.com/rove.cfm

    Specialized Tricross elite

    http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bik...oss-elite-disc

Thanks and if you have any other suggestion of bikes in this category let me know.

They're all just cheap cross bikes. I'd get the most inexpensive. I have a 2009 Fuji CrossComp with Tiagra which is of course perfectly reliable. Since it doesn't have any silly disc brake crap, I have three wheelsets with different types of tires mounted that I gave a grand total of $250 for (not including the tires).

If you're close to a Cannondale dealer, there's a super sale on 2013 CAADX. (or atleast at my shop) It could be a nationwide thing, and if it is, it is a massive deal. We're doing the bike at 1,300 and last year it was around 2,100.

    There's also this:

I'm also considering a Tricross and a kind BF member turned me onto that bike. You get 105 drivetrain but not disc brakes.

Does anyone else find it funny that almost every recommendation is something other than the three bikes listed in the question?

FWIW - go with the Trek

I like the Trek out of all the ones listed. I think the color is pretty slick and internal cable routing is nice.

I'm making the same decision right now-- upgrading from my 1992 Trek hybrid. Did you end up buying one of these bikes? Any recommendations?
    Thanks very much.

You could look into the Salya Vaya, Surly Ogre and Soma Saga.

All country bikes with a relaxed frame geometry, disk brakes and the ability to accept fenders/fatter tires.

Any of those bikes and the other ones mentioned by other posters, will let you go off road and enjoy the pavement. Something a traditional road bike can't do.

    Good luck.

The best advice you can get, is to ride them all, and buy the one that fits/feels the best. One should jump out.................
