Talk to me about the new Colnago Strada SL

I walked in to a Colnago dealer today and saw that bike, I think I want it , for 1700.00 is it worth it ? Anyone has this bike ? Please enlighten me as this would be my very first roadbike.

    Thanks

It's $1700 for a aluminum framed 105 bike, very similar to other aluminum bikes in the price range (allez race c2 and caad10 105). Try various bikes out, see which one is the best to you. To me, the colnago name is really associated with handmade carbon bikes, not aluminum framed rigs.Seems like an attempt by Colnago to broaden their markets without too much effort.

Colnago has a well-deserved reputation for making great, hand-made bikes using all sorts of materials, including steel, aluminum, titanium and carbon.

Colnago has previously made and sold aluminum bikes, including the Dream and Dream Plus line. Nothing new or trendy here.

Whether $1700 is a good price to pay for an aluminum bike with 105 is a question that only the OP can answer after he considers all his options. If it were me, I would upgrade the bike to Campy Athena.

OP, I have seen the bike in person and IMHO it is a very nice bike and a good entryway into Ernesto's world.

    Good luck and ride safely!

2012 Colnago C59 in PR99 color scheme (Campy Record 11s)

I have to have to agree with you, I was hoping someone was riding one so I could get some impressions, I saw the bike yesterday and it looks awesome , the bad news are that from what the dealer said is that it is a limited run and there's only a few left and I'm not working so trying to source the cash is going to be hard. :-(
