Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Running DA 7800 10 speed now.

Don't have the money to go all the way 11.

Thinking of buying cranks now, and shifters etc later.

Any problems with this idea?

Just buy the parts a little at a time and when you get them all install them.

I'm running a 9000 11 speed crank with 7900 10-speed everything else, it's working just fine.

The 11 speed cranks will work fine. But you might want to buy the whole set and sell your whole set together to save money. Buying items piecemeal is more expensive.

It works fine. I'm running Ultegra 6800 11s compact crankset with Ultegra 6700 10s cassette and an Ultegra 6600 drivetrain. And the rear wheel has a 11s hub.
Works perfectly fine.
