Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So since it was with a new bike purchase, I got the cadence/speed sensor free and installed, and 10% off of the above parts to make it 11 speed. All in all, very happy with the day. I'll post up pictures when I get my pedals installed, and the dork disk removed.

I really do appreciate the advice from you guys. Without it, I never would have known the 11 speed upgrade was even possible.

Dang, that is a fantastic price for a 5.9 with Di2! I think you'll really like the Domane. I've got plans for a Project One 6 series in the future, myself.

Yeah, I thought it was too. After doing some internet research and finding out every other bike shop had them listed in the $4,500 - $4,899 range, I pulled the trigger before they took the offer back. It's solid black and gorgeous!! Pics later....

That's the first time I've seen someone post pricing for 10sp-to-11sp di2 upgrade. I have to say, at close to $700 for the upgrade, I'd be tempted to live with 10sp di2.

Surprised that a 2013 would've come with an 11-speed hub, but I guess anything is possible.

Well first congrats I think this is simply awesome Nd hope you enjoy it. Surprised but happy that your wheels are 11spd compatible that's great! In regards to your question about differences between 2013 and 2014 I think other than the 11spd and various sizing (less bulky) the major difference is in the brake calipers which are nothing short of incredible but let's face it the 6700 series were plenty strong as well.

congrats again and I look forward to both pics and ride reports!

Don't forget the 11spd chain.

11spd RD
11spd wheels
11spd cassette and 11spd chain.

So did they give you a credit on the take off parts as well or will you now sell them off on your own? Out of my own curiosity do you know why they had to change out junction A?

yes, the new junction is included in the pricing list above. The stock wheels are NOT 11 speed compatable, but I have 2 sets of Mavic that are and I'll probably either sell the stock wheels or use them on my rain/winter bike which runs 10 speed sram red. Probably sell them. The Shimano rep said it would work with the original junction A, but work better with the new one, so I'm getting the new Junction A.

It also weighed in at 16.09 lbs fully stock before I took it out. With my lighter wheels and Look Keo Carbon Blade pedals I think I can easily be sub-16 lbs. So the only real "take offs" is the OEM junction A. Problem is, the 11 speed upgrade is just about the cost of a Stages Power Meter, so having bought these items (I paid cash for the bike, and charged all 11 speed upgrade parts), I'll have to wait awhile to get the Stages, which means I'll just be riding for fun. Dang it!!

Rode for about an hour last night, and it's really a sweet bike. Shifts like a dream. Thinking about the bar-mounted "climbing shifter" now, but I'm not sure they can install that without a new wire to the RD. Anyone know??

This?

Plugs into the spare terminal on the right shifter, just have to unwrap/rewrap the bar tape on that side.

I have this and love it, use it all the time and to me it's one of the ways to validate electronic shifting (if you feel the need to), in that you can add remote shifters. Now, on the new shifters John b is right, there is an additional terminal for these and sprinter shifter. But you have the shifter from the 6770 so you should double check to see if the extra terminal is there. I do think that it will have it since the original climbing shifter was an accessory to the 6770 stuff. If not then see about changing your 3 port junction to a 5 port. If you ever think you might run aero clip on bars and want to add remote shifters to those it's another good reason to get the 5 port since you could literally put on the bar and plug in the shifters.

oh, so this plugs into the right shifter if it has the terminal. If not, it plugs into the Junction A, which I'm upgrading, but the upgraded one should work? I don't use aero bars, so that's not an issue. If it just plugs into the right shifter, sounds like a DIY project, or is there some programing to do?

I got the Trek Care Plus with my new 5.2. It's a great deal as it covers wear parts like chains and cassettes so it more than pays for itself.

And the new 6800 brakes are awesome!

seriously covers cassettes and chains??? that's a no brainer as those things obviously wear out with time.

The file size may be too large. So you can either resize the image making it smaller, or use an external site to host the image. Hope that helps. I want to see pictures!

Good that they did it for you, pretty simple DIY though. If you didn't have the spare terminal in the right hand shifter and had to use junction A it would not have had enough ports (1 port for each shift lever and then one port to junction B would have used all 3), but I'm sure you must have the xtra otherwise they would have gotten you the 5 port.

cant wait to see pics enjoy!
