I'm a junior cyclist and just got this bike at my lbs. Good price, fits good and rides smooth; just need the weather to get warmer to ride it. Its a '87 Cannondale SR600 with full Dura-Ace, except the Shimano 600 double crank. Has a Terry saddle, look pedals, and mavic wheels and hubs.

I think your bike is 10 to 15 years older than 2002. Try late 80s, early 90s. Looks like a converted original down tube shifter and has a goose neck stem. Go to this link and look through the old Cannondale catalogs and you might find it.

Yeah, that's a real oldie. Nothing wrong with it, but I think I had one in my possession and remember it having a very funky rear hub spacing. I think I might be wrong with that, though.

Yup a mid to late 80s model that's been changed to bifters which isn't a bad thing. Go to the site listed above and you can figure out its year via the serial number and after that the model from the catalogs.

Don't break those cable guides on the top tube for the rear brake cable because you can't find or buy replacements.

Not a female. Just bought the bike that way and haven't gotten a new saddle. But thanks for the help. I'm not worried about how old it is, since its my first road bike with drop bars (have a flat bar).

Thanks, I found out the info. I haven't broken the cable guides but I am thinking of painting the bike. Do you know if I can remove them then put them back on?

Nice ride! I have a '95 model that pulls trainer duty and is my back up / extra bike. Love riding it. Definitely a nice ride, especially with updated STI set up. I remember cruzin' the neighborhoods on an 85 Haro Master the same color.

They are removable, but not re-installable
They are installed with 2 tabs that fit into 2 holes, then a pin is pushed down between the tabs forcing them wider inside the tube so they don't come back out of the hole.

I reglued one with Gorilla glue (which is a bit messy) which seems to work well. I also tried super glue but that didn't last long. Just be careful when installing & removing cables.

If you have it painted, you should mask the cable guides. Same with the chain hanger on the right seat stay. If you have a pump peg on the head tube, I think that can be carefully unscrewed. But block the hole so paint doesn't gunk the threads.

I think the downtube cable stops on your model are removable ... but I can't see yours well enough. If they are black plastic then yes. They have a threaded rod that the bosses screw on to. Some others are riveted on metal bosses.

If you update your profile with your general location, then in the future if you need help with something, others may have good location specific advice to help (local shops, good riding areas, resources, rides etc ...)

Check the Classic and Vintage Forum for the cable guides, there are members making them with 3D printers or molding them. C'Dale stopped making them a short time ago, the ones on eBay can either inexpensive or costly, watch out if you get them there. rccardr, a member, is the resident Cannondale expert and a really nice guy, can help you with many things related to all C'Dales.

Nice looking bicycle, ride it lots and enjoy the (s)miles.

BTW, there is a Pink Bike thread there, a lot of this color are out there and guys do ride them, proudly.

Different saddles in the two pictures? The Terry saddle looks weird and a little wide for road riding, but who knows, it may work for you.

Catalog says its hot pink. I was thinking of painting it because 1) its scratched ALOT!!! (2) My dad doesn't like the color. Il remove the brake cables and check the guides when I'm out of school.

If the guides are secure don't mess with them, you'll know if they are broke. Just don't go ham fisting the cables during any service and you be fine.

With all due respect...it's not your dad's bike. As far as the scratches they happen on old bikes, maybe your mom has some hot pink nail polish that matches you can use for touch up.

Not that it matters because like I said...it's not my bike either...But I think it's a cool color that you don't see everyday. I guess I just hate seeing a nice example like yours is being lost. Regardless enjoy the thing and have fun!

It is fun though. In the group I used to ride in the strongest cyclist (by far) was an "old man" (he was not really old, we called him that because of his grey hair) who was on a 80's Koga Miyata steel bike 75% of the time.
