Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

BTW one of my cycling buddies is an amazing spinner, baseline cadence is 100-110 and runs something like 46/36 (he says it's CX gearing) and seems to do quite well with it.
I love, absolutely love my compact 10. 50-34 and 11-12-13-14-15-16-17-19-21-23.

I can only dream of such things. Awesome.

Am I understanding you correctly? Is that the prevailing school of thought today, that somehow substance abuse has an innate foundation, or origin, as opposed to an environmental one?

am pretty sure this could be a function of who one rides with (and how much privacy there is at the turnaround point)...i mean, i could relate a personal experience here, but in support of not encouraging prurient interests, and of not receiving yet another warning from a mod, i won't...

...without prurient interests and warnings, this place would fall apart pretty quickly.
I find myself developing a prurient interest in the warnings...how sad is that ?

On yesterday's ride, I consciously kept it on the big chainring. 44 tooth on the mountain bike.

It would be nice though my saddle numbness would render such things difficult.
Just back from a thirty miler, 15 miles into a 20+mph headwind. But the ride back....oh such sweet surrender.

That's the way my wife is. I just can't understand that, if 1 is good then 15 are better. My last hip was easy physically to recover from. The hardest part was dealing with the narcotics. I am really hoping to avoid them altogether.

I dispensed with my computer last year. I have a lot more fun riding now. I don't think I will ever go back to the numbers game. Anyone want to buy a perfectly good Garmin 500 with HR monitor and Cadence, let me know.
