Speaking of which I did a 45+ open race with many of the local heavy hitters and a couple other notable guys (including one with national champ stripes) yesterday. I'm there to support my team mate who is planning Nationals this year and is strong like bull. It's a different sort of hard from the races with kids in them.. faster all the time and when the hits come they mean it. I did my duty and shut down the two breaks that got away without my team mate in them. He got in the winning one and got 2nd after getting chopped in the last corner (he had the fastest sprint in the break, but was 3rd wheel and 2nd wheel had no idea how fast he was coming up on the inside).
I pedaled in for 15th quite happy with how the day went.

Lance back in the news. Kind of feel for the guy, forced to sell his dream house, everything gone, just gone.

Am I understanding you correctly? Is that the prevailing school of thought today, that somehow substance abuse has an innate foundation, or origin, as opposed to an environmental one?

am pretty sure this could be a function of who one rides with (and how much privacy there is at the turnaround point)...i mean, i could relate a personal experience here, but in support of not encouraging prurient interests, and of not receiving yet another warning from a mod, i won't...

...without prurient interests and warnings, this place would fall apart pretty quickly.
I find myself developing a prurient interest in the warnings...how sad is that ?

on today's ride, i consciously avoided the big chainring because i realised that i never really use the smaller cogs at the back. i know cross chaining to use the 2 smallest ones should be avoided but the 3rd and to some extent even the fourth get very light use. it is such a waste to wear out a casset and it is basically only a few cogs that are worn.

Again, you know this already but talk to anesthesia and ask them about the epidural and no parenteral or oral narcotics. It can be done. Timing and details are up to you.
I am so lucky to not have the "receptors" for narcotic addiction. I have had them a few times and really HATED the way I felt.

I dispensed with my computer last year. I have a lot more fun riding now. I don't think I will ever go back to the numbers game. Anyone want to buy a perfectly good Garmin 500 with HR monitor and Cadence, let me know.
