Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sorry, I just can't get over it. No matter how I try, I just can't do it.
Goodness, how sad. Have you considered seeking professional help to overcome this obsession?

to be fair, a bike doesnt have to be a $10k wundermachine to be of significant importance to the market. in fact, with rare exception, I would expect most Bike of the Year selections to be of "enthusiast" level rides (even though I'm sure they are not). just my .02

Regardless, I doubt when the these bikes were being made and designed they weren't making them for a fattie, no matter how decent of a rider he may be. Better to have the bike reviewed by someone the bike was meant for.

I could be wrong and that would really surprise me.
LOL...an overweight Greg LeMond and Eddy Merckx, looking similar to the gentleman you appear to be mocking would wipe you a s s.

What are you, like 12 years old?

I think it's his very young age. Not a condition fixed with a pharmaceutical.

His posts lead me to believe he may be 12 or 13 years old. Maybe.

Man, this place must be dead for all this chatter to take place over a generic aluminum bike riding guy who post about how ugly modern steel bikes are, or starts threads fawning over Cat 5 Crits.

Lol at the "fatty" comments. Who says that?

Riding a century isn't exactly the pinnacle of athletic achievement, you know? First several centuries I rode, I didn't have a beer belly, but it was still a fat old man riding 100 miles on a Worksman cruiser.
And, I've been hitting a 1,000 miles a month the last year or two, but I'm still struggling with weight.

Everyone, please stop harping on Zymphad. I am planning a happy dance for his banning, and am still finalizing the choreography. His crash and burn will light up four back up dancers, and that takes a **** lot of planning.

Out of curiousity, who is supposed to judge the best bike?

1) No pro riders, because they only ride what they're paid to.
2) No retro-grouches
3) No Sunday cafe riders
4) No hipsters
5) No one with a body fat percentage over 5%
6) Must have FTP >400W (must be able to drope the hamer)

So is there anyone left? I suspect I've forgotten a few restrictions.

Is this the thread where we brag about how skinny we are, or is it the other thread?

they're all too fat for this sport. plus, any bike with a lower end group set like 105 shouldn't be bike of the year.

I want to see Tiagra bikes make bike of the year.
Real bikes for real people, not Geckos or Montgomery Burns.

Jeese, Zymphad, you are so sad, your prejudices make you look so small and shallow.
