Any Experience with Zipp SL 70 Aero Bars?
I need a different bar and was thinking of doing something really different. As I already have Zipp stem and seat post I thought I'd see what they offer in bars and these are interesting.
Zipp - Speed Weaponry | Bars | SL-70 Aero
I don't need aero bars in particular, but the shape and clean cable routing has appeal. I'm curious if that aero top is comfortable and any general impressions of the bars. It sounds like maybe you are not supposed to wrap the tops. True? In either case, is it a nice place to rest hands or too big and awkward or slippery if unwrapped?

I have the Vukasprint (traditional drop), similar shape. The tops are very comfortable, I never rode up there until I got them.
Some don't wrap it all the way up but I do. I'd recommend them.
The SL-70 looks like an updated version as it seems they're compatible with all shifters while I can not internally route my 11 speed cables into mine.

I have an aluminum set of zipp bars with a similar profile (a bit shorter reach if I'm reading the specs correctly) and I like 'em. I like the shape of the drops and prefer the flattish top section for my hands but really... claims of 1.1W improvement at 30 mph do nothing for me, personally.
They look cool though.

I've got the Zipp Countour SL's. Somewaht similar, but the tops, while flattened somewhat aren't as wide as on the SL aero. I like them.
I've also got Zipp service course bars on another bike. Honestly, while lots of people rave about CF handlebars, I can't tell a lot of difference.
If you want an aesthetic match for your stem, going with the Service course bars is a much cheaper option.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not interested due to any supposed aero gains, just liked the shape and internal cable routing.
No, not looking for tri-like aero bars. Aero is just the name Zipp gave them because they are supposed to be more aerodynamic.
I have SCSL bars on another bike as well. I like them but wanted to try something different. I'll look into the contour bars. I've never been interested in CF bars but the cable routing, while maybe a gimmick, seems a good way to get ride of cable bulge.

A couple of things...make sure they work with your shifters/brakes and that you have room for whatever you would mount on your bars.
Chainlove just had a nice set of zipp bars like this (can't remember the exact style number, but they were also aero) and they'd only work with certain shifters/cables, etc. Also, they didn't offer a lot of room for a garmin mount or a headlight. Those were the two biggest complaints.
I like the aerobar styling and would say that you'd be fine on the tops, even when they're not wrapped. In reality, most riders don't spend much time there anyway, only when climbing, and then you're pretty light handed up there anyway.

Also, at 70mm of reach (according to the specs) they are very short reach to the hoods. Make sure they will work with your fit.

Thanks for the tips. The new model is supposed to offer a bit more room for toys/lights but may not be enough. Will check. They also claim they work for all current shifters. I don't know the reach of my current bars off hand but if 70mm is very short then not sure I'll like that.

Just looking at these online. Is there a normal round section for mounting a k-edge mount or similar or does that oval section go all the way to the clamp area? Hard to tell from Zipp's pics.

I checked cannondale experts site. Says 76mm so not a huge difference. The contour sl bar is 85.5mm so enough longer than the stock bars to maybe need a shorter stem. Or is that how that works?

Yes, ~1cm increments of reach are easy to adjust by changing stems. 5-6mm is a little harder just because stems in 5mm increments are harder to come by (but do exist.)

3T has their line of aero bars. The reach is longer than the non aero version of the same bar.
