Call all Motobecane Titanium bike owners...

looking to build a Ti bike and read mixed reviews for the Motobecane Le Champion Ti. some said its not stiff while others said it's stiff if the frame is 54cm or smaller. i'm looking to get a 50cm which will be similar reach to my Scott Addict R1.

so would like to hear from current owners that's riding this frame on the stiffness of the frame, including around the BB area.

will be using this bike to climb some 6% ~ 12% grade.

    thanks.

I rode one for a year before I sold it. I actually thought the frame was too stiff. It almost felt like an alum frame and didn't absorb the bumps as much as I'm used to.

The build quality was very very nice. The welds are extremely neat and clean. Go for it!

I am also interested in the new 6800 ultegra TI from BD. I am coming from AL/Carbon Fork Felt z85 and would be buying 53 cm BD TI bike if I buy.
Looking for a ride better than what I have

I've only heard one person say it's not as stiff as they would like. EVERYONE else I've heard from said they were great. Almost bought, then I bought a Lynskey.

Had mine for a year now. It's really stiff. Maybe I'm too light to make it flex (160lbs). I replaced the wheels, stem, handlebar, seat, and seatpost. Those stock components I replaced aren't that great. So expect to spend a little more to upgrade them. Other than that, love the ti look/feel and thumbs up for the 6800 groupo.

How is Lynskey R230 which you own, ? How is the geometry ?
    I am 5'10', 160LBs and looking for a relaxed geometry as I don't race.

How is your experience with MB TI ? Can you review it and compare with other bikes ? I am 160 LB as well

I love that bike. It's not their most relaxed frame, but not the most aggressive, either. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I'm 6'2" 235 lbs and definitely don't race, but enjoy an occasional climb and do a few organized centuries a year.

If it weren't for the Lynskey, I'd be riding the Ultegra MB Ti.

Love mine. I've had it for almost 2 years and probably close to 3000 miles. Like others, I replaced a couple things - handlebars and saddle. The seat post collar stripped after about a year so I replaced that also. I already had a set of Neuvation r28s so those have been on there since new. I don't have much to compare it to as far as stiffness. I'm a little under 5'9" and hover around 162lbs.

Thanks, I intend to buy a good bike and keep it for long time. I may be testing riding this Lynskey R230: Lynskey R230 Ultegra Di2 Bike from BikeBling.com

The di2 does not fancy me though..

Hi megalowmatt, I see you are in San Diego and so am I. I am in Scrpps area, wondering if I get to see your bike before I pull the trigger. Thanks for the quick review. How much the bike weighs ?

Yes we could arrange a time but unfortunately it would probably need to be next week at the earliest. If you want, PM me and we can figure something out. Mine is SRAM Apex. I'm not sure about the weight. Never had it on a scale.

BTW, I saw your post in the other thread. You can do a Lynskey for far less than $4k. Call Don and talk to him. They won't hit MB pricing, but it can be done well for less than 4k, depending on your wants/needs.
