What's a great wheelset for <$600? New or commonly found used?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

For the record, I actually kinda like the second question in the original post. (My paraphrase) "Is there a set of wheels in your garage or on a bike that you just couldn't part with?" That's a somewhat unique question. For me, it's a pair of silver SSC SL3's. In part because silver doesn't really sell that well anyway.

For the other question (which, yes, has been asked to fricken death lately): wider rims are the new rage. I'm going there myself with 23-24mm's (HEDs, Pacentis). However, there is a far smaller chance of grabbing a decent used 23mm-wide rimmed wheelset. Maybe a23's, but those's aren't anyone's first choice.

If you love the DA set, I'd try to grab RS81's (or similar) on sale. I think those are a bit wider too (20.8?).

I got my RS80s for a steal barely used. I think I paid $325 shipped. I think they're probably a bit more stiff laterally than the RS81 because of the wider hub flanges but I have nothing to back that up. If I were to do it again I would try the WH-7850 or similar to get the DA hubs. I absolutely love them but I'm not as picky as some guys. Now that I have these, my next set will probably be 11 spd compatible because that will be the next time I need wheels.
