Not sure how you feel about the whole thing but you might still qualify for the ACA.

Are you saying that you only had to go to work one day this week? Or that this is the only day there's been a decent thread?
If I'm driving and I see another driver wave at me, I figure A) there's something wrong with my car that I don't know yet know about or B) they're flipping me off for some reason I don't yet know about. |

Thank you.
I'm weak compared to before, but about where most people would be very happy with their fitness level. It came back quick so far, but I expect to hit a plateau soon. I've gained back a little over half of the weight I lost, so that makes me happy. My legs are still much smaller in muscle, but nowhere close to how skinny they got. For just over 5 weeks since being allowed to ride, I'm happy with the progress. My trauma surgeon is an Ironman, and he is very happy with my recovery rate. |
It's a Jeep thing. Roadies wouldn't understand.

We had a bit of a delay outside Brazil on the way home. This was the view for an hour and a half or so.

When I drove the race car hauler, I got waved to a lot.

Interesting, rjones. They did race in Topeka last weekend, and heading to Englishtown.

I feel included and accepted here and part of the group- not sure what that says about me or you- and that's sufficient. If I was out riding and saw someone in full kit, I'd assume they were a far more serious cyclist than me- pretty much everyone is- or, at least, that they take themselves more seriously than I take myself and, because of that, I would neither wave nor expect them to wave to/at me. In the immortal words of David Byrne "This ain't no party. This ain't no disco. This ain't no fooling around."
One Saturday morning I was riding my nearly twenty year old bike to the shop to volunteer and I was wearing jeans and sneakers and a denim jacket, enjoying the ride, clearly not in a great hurry. I could hear several people behind me on bikes and I moved toward the gutter so they could pass me. I didn't pull over and stop though or move onto the sidewalk and I heard a loud heavy sigh. Then another one. And, finally, a half resigned, half exasperated "On your left" and four people rode by all in full kit and all on bikes that probably weighed less than the backpack I was carrying my laptop in. And I just thought "Bite me", you know. I gave them most of the street and this wasn't a race; it was the regular Saturday morning group ride. I'm not saying everyone on a so-called weight weenie bike who spent a lot of money matching their jersey to their shorts is like this guy, but it doesn't exactly encourage other kinds of riders to get out there. More than once I have been out on a ride and been approached by a roadie who hasn't had a clue about something such as brake adjustment, or even repairing a tube in the rain... |

As to the thread, it's always the hybrid riders who complain the most. One day that OP is going to realise his hybrid is so passe, and will get a road bike... and go so fast he won't have time to wave. |
...bikes come and go. When i was living up in the California foothills, I finally realized I was too afraid of the
occasional crazed, toothless, pick up driver to ride road up there, and gave all the road bikes away. You'll get another one when the time is right. Or maybe you'll keep it as therapeutic. I'm glad you're still alive, even as a mess. Heck, out of 65 years, I bet I spent at least twenty of 'em as a mess . |
I called that place we played Saturday today and they booked us for another date right away. They even offered me another date in September, didn't want to commit that far in advance at this point.

I have saddle blisters on my..a**. :notamused: Maybe I should have worked up to the 40 miles, instead of doing on my 3rd ride for May, but this has never happened before. I even rode out of the saddle quite a bit. Time for better shorts and a little time before I get back on the bike. Ain't no way I'm using cloth and duct tape back there to protect the blisters.
 |

Time for the Weekly Wednesday "Usual Suspects" club ride. Looks like rain is coming so I think we will shorten the route a smidge.
I had pulled the Roubaix out of rotation for cleaning/maintenance, but have not started to take it apart yet, so it is the designated rain bike today. |

We have to go home soon lest we degenerate completely. We have given up on sightseeing and now are content to just sit on our patio drinking wine in the shade. |
