Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Short ride (hanging with Mrs. rjones28 for her P2P training) followed by a less short ride around the lake. First time the Allez has been unleashed on the wilds of Madison county.

Big fun, going from a 25 year old sporty bike to a new racy bike. And from DT shifters to Ergo levers. I especially liked clicking down a cog with my pinky while climbing, hands on the bar top, as the grade lessened.

I also enjoyed fiddling with the DT barrel adjuster.

Lol. Maybe. Just maybe. If you are sick you will get better faster if you rest instead of riding your bike in the rain.

- It must be so surreal holding a controller and watching on a screen and then realizing, you just had killed people.

Not a fan of the pics on Facebook and social media of people asking for likes for a young woman or man who returned with missing limbs and severe injuries. Because I ask for whom did she sacrificed her leg for? For Halliburton? These young people, at 18, are they even able to to truly understand what they are sacrificing their lives for? Do they truly believe Afghanistan and Iraq were worth losing their leg? I don't know, but it's depressing.

I just can't imagine what it must be like to be told to kill another human being without a clear understanding why you have been ordered to. I would have to truly know what I'm doing is right and what I'm doing will protect my family and country.

This isn't WW I or WW II, or Civil War where I can understand why men all over were willing to sacrifice their lives.

Terrorists I can't condone and is scary someone can have that much hate. But killing them sure doesn't seem like a solution. It seems like a great way to foster more hate. Seems to me it just makes it easier for terrorist organizations to recruit and find financing. Believe BBC and others have been reporting Al Queda are financially stronger, have better resources and their recruitment is spreading.
You are correct, this is not any of the aforementioned wars. It's a group of backstabbing, low life cowards, who would try to terrorize us by murdering innocent men, women and children to the pointe that 200 of them had to throw themselves out of the burning twin towers. Oh the brave men and women of our armed forces know and knew exactly why they were putting thier lives on the line in Iraq and Afganistan. Theyre saying, you murder our innocent ones and we will hunt your cowardly asses till the end of time and don't beg for mercy when we get there, but instead enjoy the hell that you created!

I sense you're wasting electrons. The Force is weak in this one. I'd rather argue with the psychotic North Korean shill who hangs out on General Cycling, except even the mods got fed up with him and banned him for awhile.

Iraq had something to do with 9/11?

Nailed a perfect lead out in the Wednesday Night Worlds this evening... it's even more meaningless than a weekend warrior amateur bike race, but it still makes me feel good.

Souped up on goofballs. Bicycles are good.

How was the ride on that Allez jonesy?

I bet it was way more responsive than a piece of rotted wood.
