What about aerodynamics? If the hair is long enough, it can collect small children, trash, birds, puppies, small food disgards, etc. After a while, the frontal area increase of each leg due to hairy leg and associated debris can significantly add to drag coefficient. Although...it would be a convenient way of storing snacks for long rides... Hmm..

P.S. When I ride with one of my buddies, and he pulls out his TT bike, the speed difference vs his road race bike are are tremendous. I would say the frame and rider position, all other things equal, has the greatest positive impact on aerodynamic efficiency.

You can't take everything literally, especially on this Forum..
As far as calling me out..... OK Fine.
Lets' see, I coached NECSA Juniors, promoted a 2 day Stage Race, have raced Killington Stage Race from 87 to 97 and multiple other races up and down the North-East up until 2004. I have raced in France, only as an amateur of course, left racing a few years ago as a III, returning and planning to upgrade.
So I have thrown a leg over that top tube more than once or twice...
And after a harrowing day I need to go ride...
Cheers..

Shave no trim yes. Couple times a year I trim just about everything below the neck with electric. Why? Not for biking but it cuts my drying time after showers in half. Amazing how much water all that hair can hold.

I don't but my riding partner does. And I have to admit I am glad she does.

I'll start by saying that I do shave. A friend of mine shamed me into it several years ago, it was the whole being part of the pack mentality at the time. I kept doing it because my wife and I both like the way it looks. The thing that really surprises me about these threads is the lack of response to the survey, over 1300 views at this point and less than 150 votes either way.

I don't but I want to as a means of sticking it to The Man.

I think I want to shave my legs, but I'm not sure. Last time I did it, my older daughter was still in high school. She's 25 now. She noticed it in less than a second. What an eye that kid has. My wife's eyes bugged out when my daughter mentioned it.
Later, my wife got annoyed at me because of how my stubbly legs felt in the, uh, sleeping place.

I just drip dry or put my clothes on while I'm still wet. I get dry eventually.

I do since my first real crash. Pulling crap out of hairy azz legs - that I naturally have - and taking off band aids hurts a lot more then it should with them being smooth. If you don't do it yet, after your first crash, you will.

Soak the band aid in oil before removing it from your body. No problem.

I usually don't like to make excuses but I think I didn't win the race today because I didn't shave my legs.
Good thread.
