I almost rear-ended a PU laughing so hard at one of those guys the other day.
No cute helmets, no funny shoes and absolutely NO spandex for me. I prefer to blend in, Not stick out like a sore thumb. And skip the comfort routine. We did 110m on the Lake Wobegon trail sat. with cotton boxers and cargo pants. Comfy as could be.

All depends where you live. Here in Southern California, on any given Saturday or Sunday there will be thousands riding in "cute helmets, funny shoes and Spandex." If you were on a road bike wearing cotton boxers and cargo pants, you'd be the sore thumb.

Sexism doesn't just mean saying "nasty things about women."

Here's another, but I can see one of those funny spandex wearin' people behind this regular dressed guy. I think that's a woman though. The guy on the right has one of those goofy mushroom hats though.

OP, do you seriously equate pink with lack of manliness? You really think that all those cycling studs who have worn the maglia rosa during the Giro d'Italia are a bunch of sissies?

Tried spandex under my Flight Suit when I was Helo Aircrew in the Navy. It was hot, sticky and generally drove me nuts. No thanks! No synthetics against my skin. Wool, Cotton or Silk. Silk was great under the Flight suit. Still wear silk boxers and long johns.

If wearing pink and/or spandex make you less manly...you probably shouldn't be blaming the clothes. Come to CA, we're quite tolerant and would love to have ya!

Without Spandex, the rest of us wouldn't have anything to laugh about.

I guess if you putz along and never push yourself physically so you don't sweat and get off the bike every few miles to look at the scenery it doesn't matter what you wear.

Merino wool is supposed to be terrific too (too expensive for me, so I can't say if it's better or worse) -- but I can say that for cycling spandex alone is far more comfortable than anything over spandex, and that than anything over cotton.

I have two pink jerseys and I rock the hell out of them.
How dare people actually give a **** how they look when they're out in public.

Some of the outfits I'm seeing out on group rides and just cyclists in general are gettin a little well unmanly. Pink, really? White shorts and pastel jerseys, come on. Ask your wives or girlfriends for some advice before you head out the door. And Lord have mercy, why oh why did white shoes ever come about. No kidding, I saw a guy with pink socks and white shoes yesterday.
Well thats the fashion part, now the obsession with color coordinating our bikes. Give it up already. The tape, tires, saddle all matching? Get your man card punched and ride a manly ride. Get out of the wine shop, stop with the micro brewed beer, sell the Beemer, and man up. I swear some of the guys I ride with get manicures. Come on. Mow your own lawn, get some dirt under your fingernails and think about the image your projecting.
