Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What's the difference between that Toupe and the Phenom? I own 3 Phenom 143's currently and absolutely love that saddle. The older ones are hard to find and are often $$$$. How similar are these two?

Never tried a Phenom. I bought a Spec several years ago that came with a 143 Toupe and it fit my butt perfect. They've changed them slightly since then but they still fit me so I haven't looked at anything else.

I've heard that the Toupe allows you to slide around a bit more due to its flatter top while the Phenom tends to keep you in a single position. Some people prefer the Toupe for racing.

Nice. By the look of the saddle position, you could probably use a zero off-set post. Is that a rear reflector holder?

Yeah, I think it's hot but the saddle brings it down, aesthetically speaking. It needs a cambium with carbon rails.

Hmmm. I think the saddle is the key to understanding the bike, which makes total sense to me as is. It's fine, just not 'hot.'

Your seat looks too short in the nose or too far back to my eyes. Given the seat post extension, you will have your butt pretty far back over the rear whee.

Oh, OK. Before re-reading I was going to say it looks awfully cramped. Fancy, and elegant.

Pairing it with a full Dura Ace 9000 groupset, wheels and ENVE bars? Really? Also he/she needs a bigger frame or less spacers.
