Friday May 16th, National Ride to Work Day

Who is commuting via bicycle to work this Friday? Are any of your co-workers planning to do the same?

I will, but none of my co-workers, one who would, had his bike stolen and hasn't replaced it yet.

It's also Bike To Work Day in some cities, which means your co-worker will most likely show up at the office with a giant sweat stain on his back after having sixteen near-death experiences and swear to never, ever do that again.

Yeah, I probably will; but I'll just call it Friday.

I'd guess a third of my office will (Portland).

Doubt it. It's supposed to be raining pretty good in Philly. If it is, I will probably walk. I ride most other days much of the year.

I work in a home office, so maybe I'll do a "Ride instead of work" day!

I drive 31 miles each way to work. I've never mapped out a route that is bike friendly, but I assume it would be 35+ miles. No. I will not be doing that.

Bike to public transit, and then from wherever public transit leaves you, bike to work?

I use to have a commute of just over 30 miles (each way) by bus. Rode one-way home a few times in the summer.

I'm now about 15 by bike (less by car/bus) and ride one-way a few times a week. I often beat the Friday evening traffic.

This is what I do. I have a 30 mile commute each way, And bike to the bus station (6 miles), and from where the bus drops me off I bike to work (3 miles).

So give 'em the look, dial it up to 400W and let your massive guads shred them as they deserve to be shredded!

    Right?

I didn't know it was bike to work day. That would be every day for me. I would say it's the only form of transport I take, but I have gone on skis if there's sufficient snow

Not quite as far, 20 miles but half an hour driving beats 3-4 hours biking any day (I average 9 mph on the up and down hills in my area.)

I would do that, but it would be 30 miles to public transit, then 10 miles back the way I came to get to work. Bike commuting is about the only thing I'm jealous of you city folks about. Oh, and maybe running to the store, but the benefits of living away from population trumps a less than 45 minute to the grocery store.

For what gratification? Most of them i've been trying to encourage em' to use the gym bikes with no success. Some think they can just pick up a bike and ride 20 miles easily with no fitness

I'll be on vacation drinking and sailing, but if I *was* working I'd definitely bike.
