Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Horizontal stripes make you look fat(ter). That's fashion 101.
HTFU on the inside of the pocket? What's the point?
I think sticking with neutral colors, black, white or grey works with most bike color coordination.

Yea. It might be time to get our final designs together. We've got plenty of opinions to have direction and now it's starting to get a little messy and confusing with all the iterations. This was a good working thread but what do you say, get the final designs worked out?

Again, there are some good ideas and general layouts, but the execution is a little messy, which is why I "adopted" your design to clean it up. I also presented completely original designs before playing off of yours, which are viable options.

No need to let ego get in the way. Between the two of us there is some good stuff here, we can play off each others strengths to come out with a great jersey.

I think out of what we have there is something to work with. There was a couple more iterations I wanted to try out. I don't know how you want to proceed but I say we narrow it down and put it up to a vote?

Simplified. Switched up the type to a Gothic to be less modern/swiss and more throwback (you can compare the two):

Gothic typeface

Swiss typeface

Black sleeve

Last one, I swear.

Brought the Horizontal band down on the front.

Clean.

Looks better with the text closer to the horizontal band. Seems to 'secure' it somehow whereas it is floating a bit in the revised concept.

Replace 'fortyone' with 'HTFU' and it will be perfect.

Enough already with the "41". Yeah we all get a kick out of it, but the last design is just way overdone. Surely we have some other writing or graphic to use besides just 41 and forty-one. I still like the idea of the colorful flame all the way down the back, but I don't expect that to get much support. Just sayin'...again.

Since it's not the 41 anymore, is this for nostalgia?

Or a campaign to bring back the 41?

Ehhhh, I'm not going to throw a big HTFU on the back of my kit. It's funny, has a history in cycling, but it's played out. I would do something along the lines of ROAD FORUM, etc.

Just a case of too many opinions, can't please everyone

I agree enjoi, the HTFU isn't bad but I wouldn't make it really big. The left breast area is a nice place. The only other place would be either the cuff of the sleeve or on the back of the collar so those behind you could see it.

Specialized will sue over that colour combo on the collar.

Is there some reason we don't put the full words, "Bike Forums" or "bikeforums.net prominently on the jersey like across the front or back? Don't all the other references derive from that? Why so cryptic with all the abbreviations like BF and BFRC and 41. Just spell stuff out. The jersey will look better for it, and everybody that sees it won't just be saying, "Wut?"

I started a vote thread just so we can get a direction down. Any minor changes to language, etc. can be determined by the designer after we get ONE direction solid.

You have great points. I personally don't want a website on my kit, but I like "BIKE FORUMS, ROAD CYCLING."

I think the BF is more like an insider thing. I don't think the intention of this jersey is to give free advertising to the website unless they're paying for them. They should be more cryptic so we can recognize members when out in public.

Linky for the vote? I'm sad that the black jersey idea died. Black is badass. Alice Cooper golfs in Arizona wearing all black. Talk about HTFU.

I prefer yellow if we're going with a site element, but will refrain from expressing strong opinions as it seems we are on a roll.

2nd row white or 2nd row black. Highlights are great. Shadowed BFRC is not. NEED "HTFU" somewhere. It's the 41. Ego and Attitude.
