Now this is what I call good advice. I am now into the Bontrager program that allows one month to try any of their saddles after buying one. The key is of course to find a shop that carries a lot of their models which I have. I'm on the second one that MAY work- the Nebula Plus 154. Thanks go out to all who took their time to share serious advice.

That title got your attention didn't it? Good. Maybe you can help me out here. I'm tall, thin and have a bony butt that does not fare well on standard saddles. For years I've been just fine using the discontinued Titec Berserker downhill mtb saddles on both road and mountain bikes. Recently I got a newer carbon road bike and that kind of saddle just looks bad on it. Not long ago I switched to a WTB Pure V for my mtb and it works ok on a full suspension. I've been trying it on the newer road bike and I don't think I can do a century on it, not enough padding although the shape and size is good. I need a long saddle with extra padding that looks halfway decent on a nice bike. Any suggestions? My sore posterior thanks you!

My Brooks was pretty comfy but the quality was pretty iffy. It started to tilt a bit or maybe always did. This is the design but the rails were short too. I am tempted to (hopefully I did not mention this already) the Berthoud from Wallbikes. Once I convert my 10-speed to 11-speed, I may just do that. Leather seems hard but also has enough give and support. While the Berthoud is thicker than the Brooks, it may work out well. Wallbikes has a 6-month return policy.

In addition to finding the correct width to fit your sit bones, proper seat height and position will also make a difference. Also, on rides greater than 60+ miles, I'm grabbing my favorite "long mile" chamois. A good chamois does make a difference in comfort on long rides. It does take a while to condition the butt and toughen up that "thin skin".
