The Alien is a nice tool because it separates in two and you can use the allen wrenches with the open ended wrenches... it is immensely popular with cyclo tourists because of the extra like a knife and bottle opener but is it a $50.00 - $60.00 tool.

I work a good number of remote events and for the most part, I can get most things done with a simple multi tool as long as I am working on newer bikes.

The amount of tools that you need on the road are N+1, N being the number that you currently have as you break down, and the +1 being the one that you left at home because you decided you didn't need it any more based upon some poll results.
