SRAM Rival calipers or 105 calipers with ultegra 6600 levers, compatibility?
I am almost done with my build except for the brakes.
Trying to figure out whether to go with 2008 SRAM rival calipers or 2003 shimano 105 5501 calipers on the shimano st 6600 levers.
From what I have read, shimano changed their brake ratio starting from 6700 series, so the newer shimano calipers are out of the question. But I read SRAMs have the same pull ratio as the older shifters.
Both being same price, and both being used which one would be a better choice? 2008 SRAM RIVAL or 2003 shimano 105 5501 calipers?
Have to make a decision fast, since both are for sale locally for the same price.
If anyone is interested, here is the list of components I am using. (Its a frankenbike)
Shimano ST 6600 2x10 shifters/brake levers.
Shimano FD 6500 and RD 6500 derailleurs.
Shimano 105 12-27T cassette and 10 speed chain.
Shimano DA 7700 standard double crank
Shimano BB 5500 bottom bracket.
Since I have all shimano components, my gut tells me to go with shimano 105, but SRAMs are newer

IMO, SRAM Rival brakes are phenomenal, and that would be a no brainer for me.

That's a good solid build list you have there. I have used Dura-Ace and now Rival calipers and they are both excellent. I would use the Rival if I was in your position but you'd be ok with either.

I'm a SRAM hater, but there's nothing wrong with their cable actuated road brakes. Either ones will work well.

Got the SRAM Rivals, tried to install. The front nut is a bit too short. The caliper just wiggles right now. Now, to head to the LBS and figure out if they have a longer nut.
