Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Supersix vs Roubaix vs R3 vs P2

My local bike shop has some good deals running on late model bikes right now. I will be buying one of these on monday. Which one looks like the best deal/ fit for my needs? They are all carbon. I will be riding around town a lot and also going on long highway rides on the bike. I may get into racing/crit in the future.

2011 Cannondale Supersix 5 Compact
-105 components
-I have test ridden, and loved it.
-$1,300 (marked down from 2000)

2013 Roubaix compact
-Shimano Sora components
-have not ridden, but I will
-$1,360 marked down from 1,600

2014 Cervelo R3
-105 components
-possibly the best value listed here
- $1,600 marked down from 2,600
-rode it and loved it

2012 Cervelo P2 Ultegra
-Ultegra components
-aero, but possibly less comfortable
-less convenient around town
-$1,800 marked down form 2,800
-added this in for the pure amusement of my deep seeded desire to own a TT bike

In my mind it comes down to the supersix and the R3. They have similar components and similar frames although I think the R3 might be a better value, but I like the way the cannondale looks better. They both rode very very well. I would be thrilled with either one. Is the R3 really a $300 dollar better bike than the supersix? This is where I need you!I like them both. I am young and a strong rider, so I can handle compact or not compact. Should I be turned off that the cannondale is compact?
