So, I'm inching closer & closer to a road bike as I'm mostly keeping up with the front of the pack on the local ride w/ my hybrid & the itch is getting stronger.

I haven't even allowed myself to hop on a road bike yet cuz I don't want to buy just yet, but on paper, I feel the SuperSix is definitely a front runner. A little less harsh than CAAD10 and a little faster than a Synapse.

I can get 2014's for $1,700 all day but I'm wondering if there's anything the 2015 might offer that's worth waiting for??

I also wonder how the bike shops will deal with C'dale dropping pricing on those w/ 14's still on the floor. Is their net price similarly less???

(Or just go into the dirt & pick up a Motobecane from BD?)

Probably a combined total of no less than a half-dozen hours (10x that if you ask my wife) of research & opinions both here on the BF & other bike forums.

CAAD10 = rigid aluminum frame w/ carbon forks. (although, admittedly the inclusion of the SAVE system in the rear triangle implies softening)

Synapse = less rigid carbon frame (assuming carbon pick) w/ more hybrid-style triangles & head tube.

SuperSix EVO = a mix of both (at least since about 2012, according to most folks)

My assumption is that the 2015 would probably go on sale (or be haggled) for approx $1,500 if it's really going to drop & true net cost to distributors is similarly dropped. (shrug)

Awww dude! Thank you for this post and the link to the info on 2015s. I've been looking for a few days now for info on the 2015 Synapse.

Oh btw, I was told by my LBS that one of the changes on the 2015 Synapse is the 11-speed.

What!? A supersix or a synapse for 1700? And the synapse is a carbon?

I ask because I originally settled on a synapse but I couldn't locate any and if I did located. Lowest they offered was 2100 for how rare it is.

The supersix, I could find for cheaper

would you by chance share where you can find the synapse 5 105 carbon for 1700? (If you choose to go with the SS lol)

I don't know about Synapse for $1,700 but a couple local LBS chains are getting a jump on 14 closeouts. Typically, I see *at least* 10% drop on whatever msrp is & some brands/shops go deeper depending on what's up.

I look at Craigslist all the time but the real deals on bikes on CL appears to be the "over $5K" bikes than drop down to $2K ish. Or the $1K bikes that drop below $500. The ones in the middle, sellers seem to want too close to original pricing for.

I think you'd be mad getting any bike now with 5700 105, or any other 10-speed for that matter, unless it was a stellar discount buy. The 11-speed groupsets are a whole lot sweeter and worth a couple of hundred more - if that is all the difference turns out to be, for one who waits for 2015 stock.

Interesting that you have such a strong opinion on CAAD10 though - seeing as you've never ridden one. Ride it and you may be pleasantly surprised...

A local dealer by me has 2012 SuperSix Rival left in 54cm and 60cm for $1699. Pretty good deal at a $2900 original MSRP.

Sticking with Cannondale? I see the reasoning if one maker has that something stay with them. Look at me, I'm a big S fanboy LOL.
I would jump at any Cdale SS for 1500-1700 new, better if its SRAM. I am no fan of 105 and shifting with the braker lever involved. The SRAM doubletap is sweet.
I test rode the CAAD10 and its too agressive for me, the front end is too low.
How about an Allez? I prefer a race bike to be not too muted as I want good road feedback not like Trek Domane dead feeling.

What was the year you bought it? As in, did you purchase the 2012 in 2014?

I agree with that, craigslist seems to have deals on bikes that were originally 5k and above. Not sure about you, but I found it hard to find super good deals at bike shops. It might be because the model I wanted was in high demand though.

Are supersix's matte? Both colors?

VERY good point about the 5800 groupset. (I can't believe I didn't even think about that one cuz I just read about the flat bar shifters they're producing in the 5800 and just blew by the 11spd part.

So what if the 2014 went for $1,700 and the 2015's went for closer to $2K. (Maybe only $100 off list cuz they're brand new). Would you still pay the extra for the 5800 group set???

And, I have to admit, I don't want to rule out SRAM either. I'd really be wise to ride both styles cuz who knows what my hands might like better. (shrug)

Still nothing about the 5800 105 release date? I guess just when the 2015 bikes come out? I want to try it out and see if it's worth spending more for the 6800 11speed ultegra this fall.

the 2015 will not let you do anything that the 2014 wont and you will have to wait a long time for the 2015 to go on sale, ESPECIALLY with the 5800.

1,700 for an evo is a great price and to me, having 1 more cog and a little smoother shifting is not worth the wait nor the difference in price, not to mention for the price of a 2015 you can get a 2014 and a have money toward a nice wheel set/better computer/clothing/etc.


As far as the caad10, I love mine. The benefits of the non-hm evo over the caad10 is not worth the price difference, in my opinion. If you can find a good deal on a caad10 (and since you said evos are 1700 I am going to say 1100/1200 for a caad10) I would hop on it and throw on a carbon cockpit and seatpost.

but those are my views, if I found a SS or SSE for the right price (lets say 1500) when i was looking for a bike, I would have picked it up over the caad10. My area is a rich area and I am not rich so i didnt find any good deals on SS or SSE But I am still perfectly happy on the caad10.

Personally.. I would go for the 2015 Supersix with 5800. If it's anything like 6800, I think it'll be much nicer than 10sp 5700.

or maybe try to find a closeout on a 2014 supersix with 6800.

Everything is in the middle of transitioning to 11 speed.

If you can try to rent a Supersix, its worth it. I was thinking of getting a Tarmac someday and plunked down 50 bucks to rent it for one day. It was more harsh of a ride vs my Allez and I did not like that. Only plus for that bike in my situation and riding area was it was easier to go up hills with it but not worth the upgrade cost vs a cheap Allez I got as a leftover stock.

Indeed, though I could probably test-ride pretty thoroughly since I've spent plenty of money at my LBS in the last year.

And after reading your Allez/Sirrus thread over in the hybrid forum, I'm tempted as much as ever to put a Six up against a CAAD10 up against a Synapse. Of course, I might have to throw an Allez in there too just for good measure!
