I know you don't like to talk about it because it was during the Lance era, but the fact that you won a couple of stages on that bike when loaded up with bananas was pretty remarkable. I do know that you would occasionally throw a banana peel on the ground causing others to fall which wasn't real sporting but that is generally overlooked considering the achievement.
The thing I find notable is what I think is the next big thing in cycling...barefoot riding with a barbed spindle which raises pain threshold. I believe that is the future.
Ride on.

Thanks for the idea. Too late, I've already patented it.

I think Mary Poppins was way ahead of the curve when she introduced to the picnic basket to the cycling world. Who'd have known she'd be the first roadie to lead a trend that would change the future and open the way to long distance cycling. I declare today Mary Poppins day!

I was thinking of having cleats bolted directly to my feet. Maximum ventilation, and 100% waterproof.

Gatorade is full of uneccessary crap. There are plenty of recipes out there for homebrewed drinks with which to replenish electrolytes & such.
I do water & Endurolyte tabs for convenience.

The amount of water required depends entirely on the level of exertion, the amount of sweat, and the duration. IMO, if you're drinking enough, your kidneys will still be producing urine even though your sweating profusely, as there is metabolic waste that needs to be excreted that is not excreted via sweat. Having to pee after 3-4 hrs of riding is pretty normal IMO. You certainly see pros taking nature breaks near that interval during races.
In very hot and dry climates you may be sweating a lot but not realize it as it evaporates very quickly. You won't get drenched and dripping like in humid conditions even though you might be sweating the same amount.
