Century Advice for not going to ER

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Gatorade sucks. But you don't have enough variety going on in your snacks. I just bag up a variety of things so I can eat anything I want as you can see in this pic of me taken a couple years ago...

The thing I find notable is what I think is the next big thing in cycling...barefoot riding with a barbed spindle which raises pain threshold. I believe that is the future.
Ride on.
Well, in all justice I would have to argue that the ends did justify the means. The cycling elite obviously know that the yellow jersey is a mere reference to the Banana Jersey. In fact, the words Maillot Jaune mean Banana Peel in French. I did admit (very ashamed) that an extensive post-race cavity search revealed I was using a banana suppository that gave me the extra edge in electrolyte and potassium consumption, therefore, my name was never added to the history books.

Impressive, however, it seems to me that you are just hauling sacks of potatoes. That does not constitute a varied mix of proteins, carbs and vitamins but instead a poor choice of carbohydrates. I can tell by you facial expression and the abundance of white hair in your head that you are not consuming enough potassium.. Long live long bananas!

Thanks for the idea. Too late, I've already patented it.

I think Mary Poppins was way ahead of the curve when she introduced to the picnic basket to the cycling world. Who'd have known she'd be the first roadie to lead a trend that would change the future and open the way to long distance cycling. I declare today Mary Poppins day!

It's not even winter and this thread is going south faster than a Mallard

I was thinking of having cleats bolted directly to my feet. Maximum ventilation, and 100% waterproof.

I can't believe I did not see the blue. There is something sketchy about that dude... I'm not sure he should be showing pics of himself on the trade in a public forum.

The amount of water required depends entirely on the level of exertion, the amount of sweat, and the duration. IMO, if you're drinking enough, your kidneys will still be producing urine even though your sweating profusely, as there is metabolic waste that needs to be excreted that is not excreted via sweat. Having to pee after 3-4 hrs of riding is pretty normal IMO. You certainly see pros taking nature breaks near that interval during races.

In very hot and dry climates you may be sweating a lot but not realize it as it evaporates very quickly. You won't get drenched and dripping like in humid conditions even though you might be sweating the same amount.
