Addiction XXXVII

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hey, it's not completely flat here. It's not like I'm in Florida!

I hear calls for two assessments of cases coming in through the ER, so I mosey down stairs to see what's up and whether it pertains to me.

From across the room, I see the first dog and think: boy, he looks demented. Turns out he fell down the stairs a few days ago and hit his head and has been loopy ever since.

Then on the other side of the room, I see the other dog and think: boy, he looks wasted. Turns out he is, ate the owner's marijuana stash.

My last ride was 2,900' over 70.8.

Bike Ride Profile | Major Canceled so did Solo near Hastings | Times and Records | Strava

It is difficult to find a lot of climbing out here since we don't have long continuous stuff.

There's really no elevation changes in the cities unless you spend all day going in and out of the river valleys. Funny thing is that it's hillier than riding in the five boroughs in NYC.

That's basically what I do as you can see in that Strava link. I ride parallel to the rivers to take advantage of the hills. Either in the areas on that ride or across the Mississippi in western Wisconsin. South or west of me is flat so I use that for faster post work efforts.

"Fast" and "slow" are relative terms. Someday I'll get the chance to help you redefine "slow".

I think she's faster than she givers herself credit for considering the climbs she is tackling on her rides. She's probably a lot faster than I would be going up them.
